After much anticipation we had our interview today! This is how my day went: Got up bright and early so I could have time to get dressed and get on the road extra early in case we got lost or there was traffic. Also the place is all the way across Houston so it would be a drive. My appointment was at 8:30 and we got there at around 7. You pass through metal detectors and they'll search your bags. Hand your appointment letter to someone at a window and take a seat. We waited, and waited, and waited. Finally at nine something we were called. The woman that was to interview us was who called us. She was really nice and overall not very intimidating. We went through a long hallway into her office, where the interview would take place. There was kids toys in the room in case you brought babies (which we did) and some chairs. She started by making us take an oath and then the interview began. We went over basic details of our application, basically the want to make sure you were being honest in what you put down on your application and that your answers match up. Then she asked us some questions about our relationship (where we met, how long we dated before we got married, was there a proposal) and even made us close our eyes and raise up with our fingers how many children we wanted wanting to make sure we said the same thing. After that, we gave her any other documents we felt validated our marriage. I took some pictures, furniture receipts with our address, apartment lease, cable bill, wedding ring receipts. She kept those things to keep on her file. Since we haven't been married 2 years I would be granted permanent residency just for 2 years and later would have to send more info in to USCIS in order to extend it 10 more years. Over all I think it went amazing! Just goes to show you don't need a lawyer and its just money you'll save yourself. Now I just have to wait for my stuff to come in the mail!
