PROJECT 3: TRAVERSE, COTERIE, HARMONIZE

CONCEPT

Knowledge has a beginning but no end. This encourage us to learn more things and develop new skills. As elderly get older, their movement tend to slow down and they only want to chill and relax. In the model shown, the stones are stacked up coiled around with metal wires.

Hence, this represent the step of started from the bottom to top. Adapting and trying new things are hard but slowly through it, you will get there. Whatever happens in middle will be the ups and downs. At the end of the day, you will get to where you wanna be. Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.

968 is an adult daycare rather than a nursing home.  It is designed to provide care and companionship for older adults aged 62 and above who need assistance or supervision during the day.

We offer relief to family members and caregivers, allowing them to go to work, handle personal business, or just relax while knowing their relative is well cared for and safe in our hands.

REFLECTION

I’ve learnt that time management and research are a huge part in our understanding of design. The more you research, the more ideas you’re gonna get and explore. I’ve step out of my comfort zone and the outcome turned out great (sewing/ pottery area).

Time management is also important because it  is process of planning and with that, you can finish one task and at a time without stressing out yourself. I was so lost in the middle of the process but at the end I got my head on straight. 

I’ve also learnt the movement and behaviour of elderly which is an extra knowledge for me.

PROJECT 2: Dream Model

RATIONALE

I was dreaming of an ordinary goldfish swimming around and the next thing you know, appeared a 3 body-less heads connected at the edge of each side floating around. The head consists of a pair of fish eyes and it’s little tiny mouth that can barely open. Oddly enough, the nose was nowhere to be found maybe hence the body-less figure in absence of the lungs.

CONCEPT The dream model is based on these 3 elements which will be explained below.

In feng shui terms, seeing 3 goldfish swimming in the aquarium represent the growth and development in life. It takes times, effort and patience to piece everything together and get to the top.  -improvement

Being restrained and trapped inside the aquarium leads to endless cycle of repetitive of daily routine.  -repetition

As an odd out always sparks the interest of others to wanting to know more. “ kepo” -curiousity

It was a pretty exciting journey for this project. It is an interesting topic too,  having to recall all your dreams and sketch them out every night then comply it all to turn it into a concept. 

I had difficulties during the early stage but I managed to get all my thoughts and idea and piece them into this dream model. It pushes me to think more creatively and the effort it took to create this model. There’s always ways to figure out how things works no matter what, if you try and put in the effort.

PROJECT 01b: Precedent Studies to the subject matters

REFLECTION:

We were told to explore and research on Penang’s identity and its heritage, mostly on our topic “Padang Kota Lama” and “Clan Jetty”. 

We went to interview and learn some new things from the locals in Penang such as how PKL started and who Sir Francis Light is and his purpose of coming to Penang. Along with Clan Jetty on how they were 9 jetties before and now 7. 

Also, we got to enjoy and experiences the hidden gems in Penang. This school trip is good because not only we get to enjoy ourself, we also learn new things.

PROJECT 01a: Research: Site Context + Findings

GROUP 1 :    PHYSICAL STUDIES + INTERIOR ANALYSIS  LOCATION:   JAO TIM 

REFLECTION:

I’ve learned that teamwork is very important and it has become a central part of  my life. I’ve also learned that we should come up with a plan and direction before jumping into the work. I’ve also learnt that we must understand and communicate with others. 

I get to learn about Jao Tim’s identity and the surrounding places. 

This project helped me in my understanding of Interior Architecture such as the details of every part of it.
