A simple misunderstanding
He talked to alot of weirdo you cant blame him can you...
I’m not saying that Iaian is an irresponsible drinker by any means, but I am saying that u probably don’t last very long as Atomic Samurai’s disciple (much less one of his top ranking ones) unless you have a fairly high alcohol tolerance yourself, one way or another. Just saying
only 1 week until atoiaweek starts!
An old doodle made with the phone. I had read that lemon helps against eye bags. Kama apparently knows 😂
Doubt
I’ve been thinking about what characters get extremely hurt in OPM and why. Yes you might be thinking I’m talking about Genos again, but this really has more to do with how upset I am over Iairon losing an arm. I went back through some of the Manga to refresh my memory. It seems as though a consistent theme in the story so far is that hesitation often brings disastrous results.
In battle your goal must be clear, one should be able to visualize a killing blow from the beginning of the battle and continue to update that visualization until the desired outcome can be achieved. To paraphrase the Deep Sea King, every blow should be delivered with the intent to kill. In the heat of a battle every step should be decisive, if you’re going to run away to fight another day that choice should be made without hesitation. So, what is the type of hesitation that is so dangerous? It doesn’t seem to be changing one's mind, or strategy, it’s not even pausing to take in new information. What it seems to be is a conscious discontinuity between one’s current actions and one’s intentions. This moment seems to lead character’s to a precipice of change wherein the character is tempted to jump, or pushed, into some seemingly irreversible moment of change.
Every time I see Iairon I think back to the moment he lost his arm, dutifully standing guard for Atomic Samurai, his first attacks were powerful and true but the moment he faced the enemy’s unexpected ability he waivered. In the seconds that he began to believe his opponent could not be defeated he paid a heavy price for his doubt.
There is the jumpsuit hero, when he joins the Blizzard bunch and they’re trying to fight the fan monster. He hesitated, didn’t see himself succeeding where a class S hero (Tornado) could not. Thankfully he was spared a truly traumatic injury when Saitama came and picked him up, encouraging him to see past his own limitations, but nonetheless that moment of hesitation became a pivotal moment for him. In this case I’m sure Saitama contributed a lot to his change in mindset.
There was an interesting moment with Garou recently when he was attacking Superalloy Darkshine. Superalloy Darkshine was taken by surprise by Garou’s strength and he himself began to hesitate, doubt. He feared that his expected outcome which was to come out of the battle unharmed was not going to happen. He seemed to have avoided some serious physical harm this time but Darkshine is clearly shaken. Then Garou himself, the resolute self-declared monster, began to see himself as one of the bullies he so despised and hesitated. I’ll be interested to see how that moment impacts his future.
Failure is a teacher, but not every failure is necessarily instructive. Still, there is a reason behind each of these moments of weakness. Each character is presented with a decision and their choice or lack of choice forecasts a new trajectory for them. Even though I get a little sad every time I see Iairon without an arm I’m hopefully optimistic about the lessons of resilience he learned at such a high cost. It everyone who faces these moments is given and opportunity to improve by at least a factor.
