Being a Lewisham girl since I was around 8, I just had to jump on the social media train and plug this. 📢 I’m backing the bid for #lewisham being named London Borough of Culture in 2021! ✨ As a Filipina, I’m classed as part of the ethnic minority. Growing up in Lewisham, me & my family were generally treated with respect and I didn’t grow up feeling like an alien. I’ve met many people from all corners of the world, from Lebanon to Lithuania, from China to Czech, from Italy to Iran. And although I didn’t meet them all in Lewisham alone, it‘s snugly placed between those areas, less than an hour from Shoreditch or Central London. So yeah, I honestly do feel like growing up here has had a profound effect on my adult eyes - I always try to see the person, regardless of culture, religion, class or race. And I feel lucky that that’s been ingrained in me - I only hope to carry that fire on and help fight the battles of those who aren’t so lucky (with art - watch this space!) 💛🤘✍️✨ Fellow Lewisham peeps, you can pledge through www.iamlewisham.uk or @iamlewisham 😁🤘 #iamlewisham #mylocalculture #london #londonlife #bame #ethnicminority #filipino #filipina (at London Borough of Lewisham) https://www.instagram.com/p/B2_u0AdhsNs/?igshid=1py35yhwq4mj4
