Happy Canada Day! Matt forgot his birthday is today because he binge watched some new anime that came out, and got sucked in.
It happens, but luckily Matt remembered because of the group chat with his Provinces!
Sorry, Ralph, but you might not get that 20$ from Ontario. (Even though you rightfully deserve said 20$)
Ralph is using a night vision pic of his twin brother as his profile pic, and Sask doesn’t like it because he looks like a Cryptid. (Ya know, normal brother BS) I don’t know what Sask’s profile pic is.
Sorry if this looks rushed! My drawing motivation is running low at the moment, plus I slept on my wrist wrong, so it’s not coloured in.

ok maybe a corb lund or ian tyson song would be more thematic but i was listening to honey lungs (which itself is about choosing deliberately to be kinder coming out of the pandemic in such a polarized and divisive world)
also embarrassingly i got the lyrics wrong it should be "showing sugar on my tongue"
I also learned today that the Water Not Coal petition (with less than 15 hours left to go til the deadline as I write this) reached its signature threshold! I was absolutely floored by the amount of canvassing I saw and the amount of support from all corners of the province, from so many different cultural/political backgrounds. I don't trust the province to play fair, but I trust Albertans to continue not taking their shit.
It's a rough time right now. Foreign influencers who have no personal stake in the problems figured out they can make a quick buck off of ai generated separation ragebait. We're an embarrassment nationally - even more than usual - because of our antagonistic authoritarian government that would rather gerrymander cities into obliteration, censor libraries and trans kids from public life, and drive us collectively off a cliff than acknowledge treaty rights or back out of a coal deal we have been fighting them on for over 6 years. Whenever I go online I feel like I'm seeing other Canadians punching us down without acknowledging all the fighting we've been doing - because that's what the province wants me to see.
But the wild roses are blooming again and I have to remember that they are more real and tangible and meaningful than Smith's tire fire political party that I voted against in 2012 and got stuck under anyway.

Battle of Alberta Timeline pt. 2: 20th Century: 1900-1919
[ Alberta Story ] [ part 1 ] [ part 2 ] [ part 3 eventually ]
Phew. (again).
So I spent an inordinate amount of time not doing this and that was terrible. It's like not showering, I was so itchy.
Originally I intended to do the 20th century all in one go like the previous timeline, but my focus shifted, my reasons for continuing uh change with the times i guess, and I wanted to be a little bit more focused and thoughtful as I made this.
While I do still intend this as kind of a cheat sheet for myself to reference past decisions I've made, I also don't really envision this as something that is set in stone. It's more of just a milestone, a marker of where my thoughts are at, and I may end up retconning or reimagining parts of it as my understanding changes. There's still a lot I am missing or have glossed over and that's fine, I'll learn to live with it and fill in the gaps as I go in other ways.
Once again, this is something that I could go into depth explaining and elaborating on but to save myself time and energy I will simply point at the ask box and leave it there.
Not shiptalia related but does anyone remember those personified Canadian provinces made by ctcsherry? I thought I’d give them a redesign for funsies. (With a big help from friends ofc)
Took me about 4 months to complete, I started this back in early April of this year.
Inspired by @shiptalia-sea-of-stars , here’s my own redesign of one of Sherry’s canadian province characters — with a twist! Thank you to you and the @project-canada community for giving this fan web series so much love even today!
The affective feeling I get from Jean’s original design has changed dramatically since meeting my Québécois friends. He’s his own icon and I love him dearly, especially with how he’s evolved through the fandom over the years. I wanted to try and bring the best out of him through the things that my friends are proud of — and play with the big open secret about Canadian identity. I thought it would be hilarious if Matthew’s self-actualisation was achieved through becoming a concept commonly contrasted against what he’s supposed to represent.
Why Ouimet? It’s 3 things: The unanglicised form of Williams, pioneer filmmaker and theatre operator Léo-Ernest Ouimet, and a homophone to “Oui, mais…” (Yes, but…) to reflect the conditionality of his relationships, history and lived experiences. More on that soon!
#Whaaaaaaat#You guys are still around?!#That's amazing!#I remember binging the IAMP channel years ago.#wow#It's so cool seeing you're are still part of the fandom.#Even if you're just clarifying some things.#Thank you for reuploading ctcsherry's old art.
hi @thisisnothowithappened who tumblr is refusing to let me tag
just replying to say ahahaha ahaha yeeesss just clarifying, nothing else to see here [kicks the past 15 years of rambling and art and research and stupid ongoing projects i dont finish under the rug]
It is always nice to hear from people who still look back fondly on IAMP after all this time. And while things change a lot some things also stay the same (i cannot leave let me out let me out)
Anyway apart from reblogging my own hetalia-adjacent/iamp/spinoff oc projects here on main, i do occasionally also remember to update @project-canada where i try to collect fanworks when I remember to look at the tags (my apologies - its a bit dusty at the moment because life happens and i haven't caught up in a few months). Enjoy if ever you feel the need :)
