Is there anywhere to find the basics on Milton and Hitoshi. I am compelled
I will do my best to explain them both and their relationship!! @wizardmolars and I have SO much fun writing them.
Dr. Milton Beech is quite literally a self-made man- he woke up not long ago with no memories and only one thing in his mind: you need to heal. His flat voice and expression contrast his sheer audacity; he does what he wants and doesn't care who's against him. Frustrated with the state modern healthcare is in, and trying to find a way to practice medicine without sacrificing the comfortable niche he's carved for himself, he is a man of staunch morals and no patience for those that would do harm to others. He doesn't care about who he was, all that matters is who he is now- but he can't quite escape his nightmares, and false voices like radios and phone calls threaten to send him spiraling into a horror he refuses to behold the shape of.
Hitoshi Hidaka is many things- a chatterbox of a mailman, a bumbling father of one, selfless to a fault, and a carrier of many, many mistakes. He keeps a sunny smile on his face to distract from the trauma and neuroticism that plagues his day to day life, and refuses to elaborate on what claws at him- he can handle it himself, after all. His secret keeping has put a strain on his relationship with his daughter, and he feels like he doesn't deserve good things in life. Between that and his fear of being a nuisance to others, he's a desperately lonely person.
How the two meet varies- but they wind up with a mutual respect for each other. Hito upholds Milton's boundaries, Milton is patient with and defends Hito. They wind up giving each other the tools they need to face their respective pasts- teaching each other how to rely on others, as well as inspiring Hito to be more confident and Milton to be more lenient.
You can read excerpts from one AU involving them, the Fallout: New Vegas AU, here!
