1) Ian has been sick for basically 2 months. The last month he’s had a horrible cough and an ear infection. We’ve been in and out of doctor’s offices and the ER. He’s not sleeping well. We’re having to do breathing treatments every night. It’s been really challenging, emotionally and physically.
2) Kellen is in the process of getting a new job. He has one offer already and should have another today. He will be making substantially more money.
3) The result is, I put in 30 days notice at Ian’s daycare yesterday. A girl I met through our VBAC/birthing classes and discovered after the fact that we were in the same sorority in college (I wasn’t very active when she joined) saw my post on a FB mom’s group. She’s a SAHM and looking to make a little extra cash. We’re going to go from paying $1500/month to $2000/month for total childcare, but I think it will be worth it if it means Ian might finally get well.
4) My job is going really well. I hate the commute. I hate how little time I get with the kids in the evening and what a wreck my house is all the time, because I’m not home during the day to do little things here and there. But I really like my job. The work is good, they’re really great to families, I like my team. The commute is a big drawback, and I have taken a pretty significant step back in my career, but I feel like there’s a lot of room for growth for me here. I see the people who’ve been here 10 years, and I can easily see myself being here that long.
5) I just wish we could move closer. But we can’t unless Kellen strikes it rich, because central Austin housing prices are outrageous.
