yeah from the videos i've seen i think the west end ones very different from the other versions, i mean its in a 350 seater theatre and so the staging is very small compared to other stages which i think really worked for the show, and like will's sofa was on the higher level and was held up by a chain and the ensemble was quite small too. and when johnny goes 'the band'll probably suck' they liked stopped playing and he turned around and was like 'what? sorry..' and added lil funny bits in ...

and like favourite son and rock and roll girlfriend were done on a tv screen that came down and we watched instead of being a live performance (altho they did have the ensemble girls dance in favourite son) but yeah st jimmy was really good during know your enemy when he gave johnny the gun he was like encouraging him to shoot whatshername when she was sleeping and johnny pointed the gun at jimmy and then jimmy came and put the gun against his head like taunting him to pull the trigger like in... (2/3)

this production they seemed to have jimmy and johnny argue a lot more during that song until at the end of the song jimmy puts the gun in his mouth and is crying and whatshername has woken up (she woke up when he was pointing it at her i think) and theres this moment of silence where shes trying to get the gun off him and he’s crying it was so sad amelia lily had a good voice but she’s not a great actress but the girl who played heather was amazing sorry i’ve totally rambled haha (3/3)

I did see stuff about will couch!! I was actually really interested in what they were doing with that couch oh my god. and yes that line!!!! fuck god that Line is so good because I think even in LA idiot they band actually stopped too and johnny just kind of looked over at them and then continued its great.

fav son and r&r bf sounds Very different to how it was preformed on all the other tours but that also is a really cool take on it????? I mean using a tv screen was a pretty major thing in all of the productions since there were a lot of screens but using one to actually use specifically in a song is real nice and different.

jimmy puts the gun in his Mouth in this production I am Screaming my ass off im crying what the fuck im just. god im dying im not joking when I say this but I love every version of where they have johnny and st jimmy interact because its just so Great oh my god. and ill be honest I get a little bit annoyed when certain people play certain characters like in a lot of productions whatshername wasn’t white and that was Awesome but then like new productions have come out and they all have her as white and like granted she must sound decent enough but theres a lot of people in the community that are of a darker skin tone that you could have play whatshername. and don’t worry about rambling I do it all the time its alright!!!!! thanks for sharing all this with me oh my god its awesome

ok you've seen american idiot before so i think you'll know the answer to this, i went to see it a few days ago in london with aaron sidwell starring (he was amazing omg) and i've never seen it before and so during the last night on earth, like johnny spoke to jimmy and then walked off and then jimmy went and kissed whatshername and then did drugs with johnny in it and i was p confused (cos i wasn't aware he wasn't real at this point) and i was wondering if that's usually what happens? (cont.)

or if the blocking was changed for version, cos at the end they showed that it was johnny kissing her and he did the drugs on his own but yeah the blocking of that seemed odd and added confusion for me, so i was just wondering if it was like that during any of the tours? i can only find broadway versions with billie in on youtube

alright so just as a forewarning this is gonna be a little text-heavy because along with having to explain stuff my friend and I both were screaming about this last night and they made me realize something about the whole blocking of west end idiot so here goes!

okay so if im right about all of the productions before west ends (lemme list them all off because I just want to be sure; workshops, Berkeley, broadway, 1st national tour, 2nd national tour, 3rd national tour, the uk tour, the japan tour, the Korean tour, and I guess you can count the LA idiot thing that happened about a month or so ago) they all were basically the same except for a few minor differences mostly due to how the stage was set up??? lemme just start off with how it went in broadway (and possibly Berkeley??? ill have to look that up after I finish this). im also gonna do my best to find links to different LNOE’s and they’ll be at the bottom of this ask!!

so right after shes a rebel/last of the American girls jimmy is in the middle between whatshername and johnny, surrounded by all of those people that were dancing during the song. jimmy flicks his arms out a little bit, making everyone that isn’t whatshername and johnny go offstage. whatshername is completely clueless to anything that jimmy does, jimmy says, he isn’t real, blah blah blah (I didn’t realize he wasn’t real until like I watched the show at least twice with a friend so youre all good on not realizing about halfway through the show). jimmy steps forward and pulls a pouch, a container, whatever it may be from is jacket and pushes it into johnnys chest. its the container or pouch or whatever that has the needles and the spoon and lighter and tubing and all that for johnny to shoot up. he basically seems to whisper something to johnny and then walk off, go up the stairs onto one of the landings, and then start to sing. (in one of the videos billie was jimmy and van hughes was johnny and before he walked off he just kissed van and everyone screamed their asses off in the crowd).  johnny takes whatshername over to the platform, then basically slip off whatever clothes they had on and then johnnys preparing the needle for whatshername. johnny shoots her up first, and then shoots up himself and then they do the tube ballet. the platform raises up off the ground as they do it. near the end the platform lowers, they basically fall asleep against each other on the floor.

so in Berkeley and broadway, one of the differences is that theres this platform that johnny and whatshername (more on that in a minute) kneel on and it raises up during the middle bit of LNOE and use the tubing (its real long this one) that would be used to wrap around their arms and do what the idiot fandom has come to call the ‘Tube Ballet’ because theyre just like moving in really slow ways and it kind of looks like a dance.

im pretty sure that in most of the tours there was no platform because of how the stage was set up (I don’t think you could just build a platform and stick it in a premade stage so rip) so during LNOE on the tours they would just kneel on the floor and do it in a boxed in area of light and do the tube ballet there.

LA idiot (since I brought it up earlier) had johnny and whatshername on the mattress in the middle of the warehouse stage and they did the heroin on there instead.

so in honesty, that’s the first time that ive heard about an idiot production that had jimmy interact with anyone else besides johnny??? and also everyone in st. jimmy the song but that doesn’t really count since theyre ensemble. BUT ANYWAY I was gonna get to the part that me and my friend were like screaming about last night.

so my friend and I were going back and forth for like a literal second about jimmy kissing whatshername from what you said and from what we can both tell is that it implies that johnny go whatshername under a needle regardless of shooting up with her on not because, jimmy isn’t real, and I quote from my friend which was originally in all caps "jimmy is heroin and by kissing whatshername and interacting with her it means that shes involved in heroin" and then “and its definitely johnnys fault because no other person would influence her to shoot heroin”. and also fun fact, that’s the first time from what im aware off that an idiot show has let jimmy interact with anyone else besides johnny and the posse which is pretty fucking awesome and also really fucking upsetting because of the reason but its needed for the plot anyway. SO IN CONCLUSION

theres a BIG difference in how west end did their LNOE, however the team was very clever in using jimmy as more of the heroin itself than the drug dealer in johnnys head. also if you read all this thanks man!!! and also thanks for coming to me about this I actually was gonna ask around to see what happened in west end idiot performance-wise! so thank you for like trusting me to explain something like LNOE which is probably a really emotional song in itself.

muck up day is an irish secondary school tradition that after we finish our huge exams (The Leaving Cert) the school host a day before the graduation where everybody dresses up in fancy dress and the school host a day for the 6th years where they hire like an ice cream truck, a bouncy castle, sumo wrestling tournaments and all festival kind of stuff and provide a load of food even the yearheads and tutors of the 6th years dress up

it’s basically a day that the school is acknowledging that the students worked so fuckin extremely hard and want to reward them
