[I used to publish a feature known as #randomlocode to introduce evocative and whimsical locodes for ports and airports. I—who have a slightly odd relationship to letters as well as to squares and rectangles (TMI)—miss the feature and so I'm thinking of bringing it back on Tumblr. This post is by way of introduction to the idea.]
Today, I was reminded that TAX is (among other things) the port code for Taixing in China, a river port on the Yangtze, upriver from Shanghai.
