Book 1: Daughter of Eastern
Summary: The mysterious wizards work tirelessly to end the centuries old war with the savage Westerners and Zia now has a chance to become one of them. Her family have mixed feelings though, not convinced that such a choice is ideal for a high ranking Daughter of Eastern
Apparently meek, Zia secretly yearns for adventure and yet has no idea just much her life is about to change or how little she truly knows about the world she lives in.
The first book of my original saga ‘The Seven’ is now fully moved over to www.storyscribes.org. Book 2 and 3 are also fully written and will be moved over shortly. Currently have a few vague ideas for a book 4.
It was hardly surprising that this new arrival had caused such a stir as he was so completely different to any other man Zia had ever seen. His long, grey hair was pulled back into a severe ponytail – tied tightly with a leather thong – and was neither covered nor decorated. He was very tall with bright blue eyes and wore no moustache, which was especially strange for an adult male. Most unusual of all was his outfit; plain, loose fitting steel grey trousers under a matching knee length hooded tunic which carried no significant ornamentation. Nor did he seem to be wearing any rings, bracelets, necklaces or brooches, which was unheard of in a country where all men, women and children from all castes would decorate themselves and their clothes extravagantly with whatever treasures they could afford to display.
“A wizard,” whispered Bor'ena, wide eyed, and the other two girls nodded their silent agreement.
“He is dressed so plainly,” Zia commented.
“They all dress in that manner,” Del'osa replied. “Long hair, clean shaven and always in grey.”
“You have seen others then?”
The older girl nodded. “This one’s name is Ca'air and he is the wizard attached to the Palace and I have met another local one who works at the hospital.”
“Ca'doh,” Mah'iru said knowledgeably. “He looked after me when I had influenza last winter.”
“They are both medics?” Zia asked. “My brother said that they practise magic.”
“That is what most of the boys say,” said Bor'ena rolling her eyes towards the ceiling. “But they are exaggerating, of course. The wizards are both negotiators and medics and some travel to Western and manage to talk to the savages who live there, without being killed or hurt at all."
"Which is where the rumours about magic come from, of course," Del'osa added.
“So how do they survive in such an uncivilised place?” Zia asked.
“They offer medicine and aid to both sides,” Del'osa replied. “So even the Westerners know better than to harm people who could heal them. I think the wizards are very brave to do that. I do not think I could be polite to those who have killed so many Easterners in this war.”
So yes, currently still working on a few of my originals and love the fact I have a site I can share them on, even if I’m having to get used to getting far less feedback than my fanfics.
I would really appreciate any (polite) feedback you could give on this, ‘Zoomalia’ (fully complete) or my other originals ‘The Heirloom’ (short one-shot) or ‘The Artisans’ (Just 2 chapters moved over so far but complete)
About to start moving over one of my huge sagas ‘Magistrates, Magicians and Mutants’
I’d love it if you would sign up on SS and comment there. We’re a small but exceptionally friendly community giving support and inspiration to all writers and artists. Otherwise, feel free to drop me a note here if you’ve read any of them. I will always update a fic more often if I get a specific request to do so.
