Our 12-page long guide & FAQ to the Group 4 IB IA is finally done!
Hello everyone!
Myself, mythic_fci#1141 , Sevro#6174 , Hurin Thalion#6970 , kallak#4644 , and kasey#6439 from the IB Discord collaborated to make a FAQ & general guidance document for the Group 4 IA.
We talk about stuff like finding an IA topic, keeping below the 12 page limit, handling data analysis & evaluation, and way, way, more. We also answer questions about originality, formatting, and page count we get almost daily.
It's written based on personal experience, others' experiences, and most importantly, the official IB exemplars and teacher support material found on the IB website. We literally wrote an EE's worth (4736 words) of IA advice, so we hope you learn something useful from it!

Please help upvote it on Reddit for maximum visibility! This post contains a compilation of all the IA discord resources as well.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or concerns, we would be more than happy to listen—dm me through tumblr, reddit, or on the IB discord (discord.gg/IBO)! :D
Tip
When writing lab reports, use graphs. Try to avoid using bar graphs. Scatter plots are encouraged.
The Issue Has Been Resolved.
I'm in IB chemistry now, but I was forced to drop orchestra. YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW PAINFUL THAT IS FOR ME.
But IB chemistry and orchestra were both during fourth hour, and there's only one division of IB chemistry this year and I have to take IB chemistry for my IB diploma, so I had to drop my favorite class. I AM SO SAD RIGHT NOW IT IS NOT EVEN FUNNY.
Oh, also, school starts in another 3 days. I'm bracing myself for this:
Yup, that sounds like my high school. Especially now that anyone who passed either the Reading or Writing section on the state exam is automatically enrolled in both IB English and IB History of the Americas. GAH. ...I think this is a pretty accurate representation of my frustration:
Just because someone passed an exam does not mean they are ready for an intensely rigorous college preparatory class. It just means they've passed a test. Woo. Good for them. It doesn't mean they're mature enough to deal with the work ethic required and the heavy coursework. We have to do 10-minute oral reports on a passage we get to choose out of a book our teacher chooses for us, as well as 2 world lit papers. I can't see some of the kids who are registered in my IB English class being able to handle that. If it turns out they are able to handle it and they end up getting A's on both world lit papers and the oral, I'll eat my foot.
OH YEAH I TOTALLY FORGOT: I'M TAKING THREE IB SCIENCE CLASSES THIS YEAR, GUISE! :D
I'm going to be out of my mind by the end of the year. If I'm still sane, I'll eat my other foot.
