To get an idea of what my project should end up like, I started stalking my seniors on issuu and other publication websites to understand what they ended up doing, and more importantly, how they ended up doing it. I first looked at all exhibition design project outcomes to see what could be done within the set criteria of having a spatial design output. Thommen, a senior from exhibition design had a publication output, a zine from his spatial research of the area he had studied (_The Bandra Project_). But in his final jury, the non spatial output wasn’t taken very well. He, and Tanishka the discipline co-ordinator, have both advised me to ensure that I have some sort of spatial output to meet academic requirements.I feel that their advice is sound, and now I’ve even thought of a project proposal that will satisfy all the criteria I had in mind. Looking back at the work done by students past has helped me understand what I would need to do in this project. Ishita’s project was beautifully documented, and her accounts of the projects ups and downs were quite informative. I now understand what my project will have to go through to become a proper graduation project.
Last night I went to The Marriot in Panjim for the India Beach Fashion Week. I got an all access backstage pass and was hired for my services as a photographer. Gourab was covering Shyamal and Bhumika’s fashion show, so I was drafted in as an assistant. It was a great experience to be thrust in the hustle and bustle of the fashion world as a photographer/videographer. Also, a great chance to test out my camera, and so that was a bonus. More of that on my other blog soon. It was fantastic to meet fashion designers, makeup artists, and see the models up close. Fun fun.
