Nina is my unexpected favourite. she started out as this ridiculously annoying character with a high-pitched grating voice and a tendence to come between Mari and Rü’s love, what with being in love with Marcell and constantly seeking Rü’s presence. i literally created her to be hated (by Marcell). as the years have passed and i’ve thought abt her characer more deeply tho, she’s become an amazing confident woman who trusts herself and who is trusted by her friends. she’s been through so much and has had no support from her family (aside from her trans aunt who couldn’t always be there bc she’s hated by her sister, Nina’s mother) but she has prevailed and hasn’t let the bad stuff get to her. she protects her friends and siblings fiercly and is incredibly smart, having built her own company and made a good life for herself. i love Nina!!!!

my newest OC hasn’t been properly explored yet, but her name is Arabella. her namesake is actually @urlane‘s oc Bella <3
Nina is panromantic ace and has a bit of trouble finding a proper romantic partner but she has a crush on this girl that works in a coffee shop close to Nina’s work place. i can’t tell u much more abt Bella yet, bc i still don’t know much abt her myself but hopefully that’ll change in the near future when i have some time to explore her character. but i can definitely say that she has just as big of a crush on Nina and they will get along splendidly ;)

hoooo boy honestly? it’s a tie between Rüdiger and Elias. Rü always used to be my favourite bc i connect with him on a base level and bc he got a lot of my (old) character traits but ever since i properly fleshed out Eli’s character he’s climbed the scale to the top. i love my soft boys <3

they do generally appear out of thin air lmao and it doesn’t take me long to flesh a character out, even when it takes me forever to start.
my process goes along the lines of questioning what my main characters need atm, usually for character development or to progress the story in one way or another. they’re always little helpers to move along the background stories/plot but most times they end up being so important (or more like i end up loving them too much) they become a proper fleshed out character! that’s what happened with e.g. Eli and is currently happening with Ice.
this is never going to happen in canon but i kind of needed to write it anyway and it fits a little with pride month! hope u enjoy:

“Ok, I can fucking do this.” Marcell whispered to himself, his hand on the doorknob that would lead to the salon where his parents currently sat, awaiting his arrival.
His heart was beating faster than that time he saw Elias kiss Rüdiger - well, almost kiss - and faster even when he told his Sun how he felt about him.
He was more annoyed than when he had to watch Nina fuss over Rüdiger’s prom outfit for over an hour. Even more annoyed than he was at having to watch them dance - four times.
He was starting to get angrier as he glared at the doorknob. Stupid shiny thing just being there, doing nothing to help ease his stress. Stupid metal bullshit. Why are doorknobs even a thing, anyway?! In a house this goddamn big surely his idiot parents could afford to give all the doors handles instead. Way more practical! Way easier to open with sweaty as fuck hands.
Ugh.
His parents knew he was gay and they didn’t care. They still expected him to live his life as they saw fit, as they commanded him to, but he needed to stand up for himself. He wasn’t about to leave his Sun, just because these idiot homophobes thought they could control him.
And how dare they raise him like they did and expect him to back down!

Well, alright, that last piece of parental advice wasn’t going to help him in this situation.
Marcell closed his eyes and took a deep breath when his shoulders were suddenly gripped tightly and he felt a puff of air by his ear.
“I believe in you.” Rüdiger said from behind him and squeezed Marcell’s shoulders. He let out the breath and let go of the knob. He turned around and hugged his boyfriend, feeling Rüdiger’s arms come up around his waist.
“I don’t wanna fucking do this.” Marcell’s voice trembled as he whispered into Rüdiger’s neck and he hugged him a little tighter. He would’ve loved to forget this, to turn around and just never come back here again.
“You deserve to make them listen to you.” Rüdiger said, “They should hear what their only son has to say before he leaves his home and his family forever.”
Marcell sighed and let go, “They’re not my family. You are.” Rüdiger smiled his beautiful sunny smile and leaned in to kiss his boyfriend’s cheek, “And I’ll be waiting for you outside. Take as much time as you need, my love.”
Marcell rolled his eyes as Rüdiger walked backwards to the entrance hall but he couldn’t help smiling back at him. This would only take a minute. He really only wanted to say one thing to them.
He turned around and frowned at the stupid doorknob. Then he turned it and entered the salon.
Rüdiger! created him when i was like 17 and trying to cheer up my friend @lily-katie with a cute little story abt two boys who became best friends in elementary school and then escalated when they moved on to fall in love and be soulmates haha

never had to :) since i only have 5 main OCs and a few background characters the need to scap any of them and give them any traits someone else already had never came up.
i mean, some of them share some interests, pieces of backstory, etc. (e.g. both Marcell and Elias have wealthy families; Rüdiger and Elias both love and work/have worked with animals) but they still differ a little bit in those aspects (Mari grew up a spoiled brat, Eli was adopted when he was 3yo; Rü’s occupation has to do with sea creatures, Eli’s work with animals was just a part-time job) so they do have things in common, but they didn’t get their personalities and backgrounds from a scrapped character.

individually they properly meet when rüdiger introduces him to his friends, and by extension to marcell’s friends, after him and elias have gotten closer. out of solidarity to mari ice thinks elias is a loser. they also see a little behind eli’s sad-beautiful-charming-emo-boy-facade as they’re very observant and they are not impressed lmao.
Who developed romantic feelings first?
both at the same time. theirs is a gradual slope to romantic feelings that happens over first ignoring/slightly disliking each other, then hanging out more, becoming friends and eventually developing romantic feelings. they vibe on the same level i think.
Who is their biggest “shipper”?
so ok this only happens post-c.d. when mari and eli are becoming friends and the group is coming together properly so when ice and eli’s relationship becomes apparent their biggest shipper will be marcell, bc he’s super happy for his best friend.
When did they have their first kiss and under what circumstances?
they were out for ice cream agan, enjoying a nice date. their kisses all tasted fruity that day.

neither. i rly like the idea of them just gradually falling into this relationship together. there’s no real starting point to it and they never get to any big confessions even when they start telling each other “i love you”.

the gang wanted to get tgt at the bowling alley but everyone else canceled last minute. eli was like hey why don’t we hang out since we’re already here and have some fun and ice agreed. so they bowled and talked - it wasn’t the first time they hung out just the two of them, just the first time they didn’t end up w the group at the end - and got into some deep convos and had fun. but it only turned into a date when they were walking home and elias bought them ice cream and they shared with each other. that’s when they started being aware that they could/did feel differently for the other than they thought. i guess there never rly was an official date. just dates. lots of them after this.

they like them. nina and bella like to call them on double dates and they even participated in a trible couple group date once with nina, bella, rü and mari but ever since, they refuse to do that bc rücell were so busy with themselves they completely ignored anyone else lmao. which is fine bc rücell don’t like double or group dates anyway. they keep doing them with nina and bella tho :)

it was “The Epic Dress Dicourse of 2k15″. yeah, u guessed it. it was abt that dress with the optical illusion that made it seem either gold-white or blue-black. they fought for a week and even got the others to take sides. it was bloody. words were spoken, accusations thrown, theories rebutted. no one fought as hard as ice and eli who had started the whole thing. it almost destroyed their relationship and the group friendships. it was settled when the truth came out but they have never been the same since. the group treads lightly on internet discourse around ice and eli. they never talk about it and when they do they treat it like wizards and witches treated Lord Voldemorts name before the war. the-D-that-must-not-be-spoken-about. the-only-D-they-don’t-speak-about. they-do-not-want-that-D.
