…well, she should have known there’d be no hiding it from another medic. Having lurched to a stop, Ryū turns around with a lip bitten sheepishly. “I, uh…” Sigh. “…about…eight weeks or so.”
Which…is obviously a huge problem. “Just…don’t, uh…don’t…mention it to anyone…? It’s…not common knowledge.” She hasn’t even worked up the nerve to tell Manami yet. Hands wring anxiously. The anxiety of Fugaku finding out is about to give her a premature heart attack. Once he finds out Itachi’s not only slept out of wedlock, but with someone who’s not a blood Uchiha…heads will roll.
“…I dunno what to do!” she finally blurts, facade quickly crumbling as she finds herself finally with an outlet. After all, there’s almost no need for Rin to put two and two together: she knows who the second party is without a doubt. And as scared as Ryū might be, there’s no one else - she’s well-aware - who knows that near-exact scenario like Rin does. She’s got just as much reason, if not more, to be wary of the clan head.
“…I want to be excited, but…all I feel is scared…!”
Rin had hoped she might be wrong -- or that Ryuu was excited, because Rin herself was excited about her own pregnancy, and knowing that someone else she loved and cared for was going through the same thing? Was oddly reassuring.
But the way Ryuu had reacted was far from what she had hoped for -- more along the lines of what she had feared, her heart breaking the more Ryuu spoke, her hands reaching out to gently grasp Ryuu and pull her into a hug.
“I won’t tell anyone, but you should likely see a specialist soon, imouto. You need to try to be as calm as you can for yourself and the baby, okay? Right now is a tricky time for both of you, but I know you can do this, okay?” She gives Ryuu a smile, gently squeezing her as best as her own slowly growing belly would allow. “Just because we’re both medics, doesn’t mean we know everything there is to know about life growing within. That’s why people specialize”
She takes a breath before pulling away slightly, her hands reaching up to cup the sides of Ryuu’s face, thumbs gently rubbing over her cheeks. “I’m going to help you with Fugaku, okay? We’ll make this work, and...you love him, don’t you?”
It was blatantly obvious that ‘him’ was not Fugaku. But even in relative privacy, she wouldn’t say the name aloud, doing her best to help keep Ryuu safe.
