In the midst of the chaos happening in the village, Mya makes use of the loneliness. Knowing full well she cannot help any further, odd, she doesn't even know where her brother is right now. How is she supposed to help? Perhaps if she were more in tune with mudokon spirituality, she might be granted some way of knowing. That's just a dream at this rate though, the poor soul is still bound to the empty life of a factory mudokon.
She takes the time to remember those she has already lost. The one she will never let herself forget. If only she could see him again, or at least have closure, instead of waiting. Hoping.
She decides it is time to create her own closure. Finding a secluded spot in the forest, she digs a mound, decorating it with flowers and stones that she now has the freedom to enjoy. If not for him, she didn't see herself surviving the ordeal at the brewery. After all that's happened, she doubts her strength would have held out until the escape. Delicately arranging the natural decoration around the mound until she's satisfied, she reaches up to the back of her head and takes a sharp breath.
A feather. Plucked. One of few.
For him? Anything.
It is placed as the head of the grave, the moonlight reflecting off the dusty pinks.
"It's not forever, I won't believe it. We'll see each other again."
Spelling out a single word in pebbles, she completes her memorial.
