You know I had forgotten that Gretel (hansel's weapon) is ACTUALLY his sister - like her SOUL is bound to the weapon. So it really is Gretel, even if she can't properly communicate or is even conscious.

I am mostly posting this because Hansel is such a minor character that it's difficult to find pictures of him outside of the like 3 cgs he's in. This will be his basic appearance in any verse, and the large fork he has is Gretel. As you can tell, he's an absolute mess. I love him regardless.

DEV. Hansel, & Growing up in Idea

For those unfamiliar with Code:Realize, Idea is an organization of immortal beings who help ‘steer history’ and ‘guide humanity to the right path’. The organization is run by an oracle, Omnibus, who see prophecies of disasters and it’s up to the members (called Apostles) of Idea to prevent these from happening. Normally this is done through killing responsible parties. This could even be thousands of people, and the Apostles are still ordered to kill anyone responsible. With this all in mind, Hansel became a member of Idea at an extremely young age. I’d say he was 14 or younger. He was on the brink of starvation, carrying his sister’s dead body through a never ending forest. If he hadn’t stumbled onto Omnibus’s home in the Forest of Fog, he likely would have died. I like to think Omnibus let him find the house, as it’s not exactly the easiest thing to find especially for a starving child wandering through the woods. This video from Finis’s route sums up all of Hansel’s backstory and him joining Idea in detail (there is little to no spoilers for the route aswell, so happy watching if you want to know more about Hansel). After joining idea, he was not allowed to go out on missions right away. His body needed to recover, and he needed training. It takes over a year for him to be physically fit again, but the mental scars are still fresh in his mind. While he understands the missions of Idea, Omnibus is worried he won’t be able to handle it mentally. So she waits until he’s 17 before he’s allowed to accompany other Apostles on their missions, and 18 before he’s allowed to participate actively in the missions. Turns out, he was completely fine with everything - determined in his own personal mission to make sure kids, especially siblings, didn’t have to suffer in the future. His first few missions were accompanied by older Apostles though, just in case. The only thing that was really hindered by growing up in such an organization was his personality. He didn’t exactly have friends his own age, and was very quiet for the first few years at Idea as he recovered physically and emotionally. It’s the reason why he’s so monotone and detached. He’s not used to interacting with people, the only ones he actively talks to on a normal basis is Omnibus, and Gretel - and the latter can’t really reply back to him. The slow transition was helpful with getting Hansel used to the work, but it didn’t do much in terms of his mental development. Physically, Hansel grew until he was around 18-19 years old, and then the immortality kicked in and he stopped aging. It could be argued that he still has the mentality of someone around that age as well, but on occasion he does show a wise side to him, which can be noticed when he’s offering advice to Finis during his route in the third game.

   DEV. Hansel & Sugar addiction

Hansel has a sugar addiction. It’s more than just a sweet tooth, it affects him physically and mentally if he doesn’t have sweets. Being an immortal lessens these affects, of course, but the fact that he has the addiction is undeniable.

The main physical trait that he has that gives him away is the dark circles under his eyes, common for people with a sugar addition - especially children. Other than that if he goes too long without sugar he might feel dizzy or even fatigued - but again as an immortal this seems to be a longer time than most humans would have before their withdrawal symptoms start showing.

Mentally he uses sugar as a way to calm himself down, and he could get anxious or even depressed if he doesn’t get enough sugar in his system.

The fact that Hansel is immortal both helps and hurts him. He can’t get any noticeable health problems as a result of his massive sugar intake, however if he were to try and quit it would take an even larger toll on his body as he’s gone so many years like this. The apostles of Idea, even Omnibus, all agree that it is better to just leave him to his sweet tooth ways as a result.

He does eat normal food, believe it or not, but a lot of his diet does include sweets. If he is seen having a normal meal,he will request dessert, multiple times.

Dev. hansel & ideas’ apostles

Aside from Hansel, there are 12 other apostles in Idea.

There are only three others besides Hansel confirmed to be canon:

Below are some headcanoned members of Idea that I might develop or at the very least reference vaguely during threads - as Idea is Hansel’s family and he calls them as such (even if they don’t all tend to gather most of the time,or see eachother often, as Hansel states in the third game).

“Little Red Riding Hood”

Only Omnibus knows her real name, everyone else calls her ‘red’, ‘little red’ or variations of the color red. Hansel tends to call her cosmos, short for ‘chocolate’ or ‘red’ cosmos which is a shade of red and the name of a flower. Though if he’s trying to joke with her, he’ll call her Chocolate She’s one of the more talkative members of Idea, and the one who frequents Omnibus’s home the most when off duty (aside from Guinevere). She affectionately refers to Omnibus as her grandmother, and sometimes Hansel as her ‘uncle’. She is technically older than Hansel though. Her accursed arms is technically the red hood she wears.

Inspector Lestrade

One of the more recent members of Idea, he’s only been apart of the organization for a couple of centuries. He was recruited by Saint Germain who was building up his worth in London at the time. Lestrade would have died in a confrontation with a dangerous criminal had Saint Germain not offered the proposal of immortality. A bit strict, a bit unused to the world of magic still, a lot of things catch him off guard but he’s coming to terms with it slowly. He uses his position at Scotland yard to cover up a lot of Idea’s activities in London - especially around the events of the main game. Probably the one to interact with Omnibus the least, but he still does answer her call when she summons him / all the apostles. his accursed arms is a gun - however it’s not the one he uses while normally on duty, but always carried on his person.

Jim Hawkins

Joined sometime after Hansel, but was under Guinevere’s harsh training so they didn’t talk much. From the brief meetings they’ve had, Hansel can tell Jim is still a little haunted by what happened to him when he was alive. But overall he seems okay. He does get onto Hansel about his sweet eating habit though so that puts him pretty low on Hansel’s favorites list. His accursed arm is a sword and gun combo, but he isn’t seen using the gun unless absolutely necessary. He’s normally stationed near the ocean as he is familiar with sailing and pirates enough to keep an eye out for those kinds of issues.

Beowulf

One of the oldest members of Idea, next to Saint Germain and Guinevere. Doesn’t socialize with the other members that often, if at all. Hansel doesn’t like him that much. Beowulf seems to always see Hansel as a child and doesn’t think he should be in Idea - same with Red Riding Hood. His accursed arms is a sword and shield - seemingly made out of dragon scales and bone.

Horatio

One of the weakest fighters in Idea but makes up for it for being one of the better members when it comes to political missions and stations. Doesn’t talk a lot when Idea meets up, constantly an observer. Seems unnerved by Hansel, so Hansel naturally loves to mess with him. His accursed arms is a book, which he can turn the pages into sharp blades if needed.

Drosselmeyer

One of the oldest looking members of Idea, being elderly like Omnibus. Uses magic almost excessively to the point that other members of idea have to warn him about not using it in front of average humans - but he tends to play it off as being a magician if caught Hansel likes him as they’re both a bit eccentric and Drosselmeyer always brings him sweets whenever they meet. His accursed arms are razor sharp wires, which he normally attaches to puppets he enchants to do his bidding for him - but the wires are truly what his weapon is.

Jane Eyre

One of the more serious members of Idea, meaning she gets along great with Guinevere, and also lectures Hansel often. Known to have a strong sense of justice and also one of the biggest believers of god within Idea. Takes Omnibus’ summons and visions very seriously. Doesn’t like the more eccentric members of idea (Drosselmeyer, Hansel, Little Red) that much but still gets a long with everyone well enough. Her Accursed arms is a dagger, much like Saint Germain’s but larger. The sheath of the dagger is also considered apart of the accursed arms and is difficult to tear through or break.

Benvolio

Though being a member of Idea, he hates violence. He normally doesn’t do missions alone and is accompanied by one other member. He tends to be the one to diffuse arguments when all of the members met up. One of the kinder members of Idea, and talks often with Hansel. His accursed arms is a staff, which has a hidden blade to turn the staff into a spear when needed.

Goldilocks

One of the more cheerful members of Idea, Hansel likes her cause she likes to eat food / sweets as much as he does. Also a bit of a freeloader but not as bad as Hansel. Is able to trick most people into doing things for her through words or her looks. Side note, she’s not a young girl but a young adult. Only the members of Idea call her goldilocks, which is her real name. She takes other names depending on what mission she’s on. Her accursed arms is a set of metal claws she can slip on like gloves.

I forgot I actually had made a psd for some hansel icons and i'm pretty happy with it all things considered. wish i could get more icons of this boy tho. He might be one of the few characters i consider a secondary fc for.
