as first mate to the captain ( and his friend ), jinan has made it his duty to know every nook and cranny of the station. it’s a static place, and one that watches people go by instead of being the one who actually leaves, and as such he’s found that he has plenty of time to waste. and he isn’t stationed too far from home, which makes him feel much more at ease with everything else, even though he hasn’t been able to land feet-first on actual ground in a long, long while.
granted, the low-life subordinates seem to be unable to do anything else with their time other than make their commanding officer’s life worse, which in turn makes the first mate diseth seem more hot-headed and aggressive than he usually is.
when he’s informed of a visit from a certain someone by the CO, he’s the first to head down to the docking bay to anticipate the arrival of the shuttle. it’s a nostalgic anticipation; he hasn’t been planet-side for weeks.
he stands at attention, and salutes and greets all the passengers of the shuttle, and finally arrives at the last -- and most important -- passenger on board.
“seungki.” a salute, and a hand extended for the younger boy to shake. “welcome, once again. did you come to see your brother?”
