owen HELP what’s like, the best samauri film to start with? i’ve somehow seen 47 ronin already but that’s it….
The Sword of Doom (is a great primer and a fun introduction to the genre)
Lady Snowblood (not technically a samurai film, but its amazing)
Yojimbo and Sanjuro are kind of thee classic Kurosawa samurai films, and if you dig those go on to the epic masterpiece The Seven Samurai
Throne of Blood is an awesome mesh of Shakespeare and Samurai
Shogun Assassin is super fun and they used to show this on local TV when I was a kid and I LOVED it, I was not aware that it is pieced together from the Lone Wolf and Cub films. Shogun Assassin is pretty great standalone film, but once you see the whole series of Lone Wolf and Cub films it loses its charm because there is so much more. BUT if it sounds interesting and you are not sure you want to dive into a six film series Shogun Assassin is a great start.
For modern stuff I really liked: The Twilight Samurai, The Hidden Blade, Ghost Dog, Love and Honor, 13 Assassins, and Azumi
(now i am going to go buy the entire Lone Wolf and Cub series because I should own that)

I need the resin deets, I’m fascinated
it’s just very... finicky? like i tried casting some abstract-ish gemstone shapes and they released without issue, but my gorgeous holo mica powders and gold-leaf all settled to the bottom so they’re essentially clear and you have to stare top-down to see the effects. i might have to do it in layers/stages or figure out the PRECISE moment during the cure to swirl the shit in, although i will say that using my kitchen torch to get the bubbles out was v. v. v. satisfying considering that a.) i do not own an autoclave and worked around that and b.) i managed not to set the silicone aflame
I’M GONNA KEEP TRYING

Um, but you really do need a dog
It’s definitely true that this is a good yard for a dog and that a dog would have a fun time up here. But I would be SO worried that a dog of any size might get into the fields with the sheep, or worse yet, the lambs. Two owners back, there was a couple living here who bred Gordon Setters; they both went into the city to work all day, leaving the yard full of unsupervised monster dogs (although they also had a slightly taller but very flimsy fence). The farmer was not at all keen on that arrangement, and if it were me, I‘d just waste my entire workday visualizing the horrors my dogs were getting up to.
Maybe I could get a dog and just make it super, super fat so that it had no prayer of clearing the fence? A plan to consider.
