📍 Rita's Italian Ice · SM City North EDSA
Spent my afternoon last Saturday at Rita’s the block. Just got off my office and decided to try any dessert parlor around and I saw Rita’s, also reminded me that my highschool friend of mine is working here and recommended this store. Unfortunately we haven’t met since her shift starts at 4pm and I went at 2pm.
Idk but the Ice custard is sooooooooooo good. The ambience of the place is so chill, good combination to take photos using foodie app.
Will go back again to try their Custard milkshake ✨
Rita’s Italian Ice, 468 Foothill Blvd., La Canada Flintridge, CA 91011
Originating from Philadelphia, Rita’s now has over 600 locations. Rita’s is known for water/Italian ice. All their ice flavors are made daily. The La Canada location has two cases filled with Italian ice (it’s scooped out, like ice cream) with one daily sugar free option. Ask for samples. They also have three flavors of frozen custard, custard cakes, milkshakes, Blendinis (like Blizzards), Misto (Italian ice and custard blended together) and Gelati (layered Italian ice and frozen custard).
* Gelati ($3.89 regular) with vanilla frozen custard and Alex’s lemonade Italian ice. I didn’t like the frozen custard or the Italian ice. The frozen custard was thick and bland. The consistency was weird, almost chewy. It was like chewy whipped cream. The Italian ice is pretty coarse without much lemonade flavor. I wanted something very tart and lemony. This was a grainy and icy without much lemon flavor. It had a few chewy pieces of lemon rind in it. I would rather have a good lemonade and some froyo.
I sampled the kiwi strawberry ice – it was sweet and very slightly tangy. It wasn’t that flavorful and it didn’t tasted completely natural. The raspberry lemonade ice tasted artificial too.
