(@icetypelover) Hello, given you're a nurse maybe you can help me with something? My Meowstic Salix just caught the Pokérus, I'm worried, what is it and what should I do?

@icetypelover Hi there! So, the good news is Pokérus is not deadly and your Meowstic will have immunity to the virus for the rest of its life. The bad news is it's very hard to get treated for at Pokémon Centers, as the virus mutates so so so rapidly that modern medicine hasn't been able to create the perfect cure yet.

In short, the Pokérus is a viral illness that is specific only to Pokémon, so humans cannot be infected. As I said previously, it's not deadly and a pokémon may usually only test positive for one to four days max. There aren't many symptoms that are associated with the virus other than a weakened immune system (so your pokémon might catch another illness at the same time), but infected pokémon tend to get a little stronger after recovering. If you notice your Meowstic developing any other symptoms of sickness, your local Pokémon Center can prescribe medications for temporary relief.

Pokérus is a very contagious viral infection, so if you have other pokémon I would suggest keeping your Meowstic separated until they make a full recovery... unless you are one of those people that believe in "herd infection and immunity," then by all means go nuts.
