We’re almost done with the alpha! It’s just the first level, but in case all those active events in the area maps didn’t give it away (every white square is something the player can interact with), it’s pretty complicated. Lots of little details, and it’s just @emissary-architect and myself working on it.
Once again, ART IS NOT FINAL. This is the alpha, meaning pretty much all the art used at the moment is modified from the generator that’s built into the program. We hope to get custom icons and sprites for everyone eventually, but it’s going to take a while--we have 2 player characters, 12 important plot characters and 18 NPCs. (If/when we go to Kickstarter, 10 of those NPC designs will be available as backer rewards! )
We don’t have a release date for the alpha, but we are looking for a small pool or people, maybe a dozen or so, to go through it and give us some feedback when the alpha is out. If we get enough positive feedback on the alpha, we’ll be taking the game to Kickstarter to make it more feasible for us to get it finished. We have a lot we want to do with this game, but it’s a big undertaking for two people.
The game itself has branching paths, alternate endings, bonus/optional levels and a slew of conditional plot devices. There are multiple paths to each ending, so there’s no single way that the game has to be played in order to get the “good” ending. It’s possible to get the good ending even if everyone else dies--likewise, it’s possible to save as many people as you can and still not get the good ending. (The real key is being brave enough to explore everything you can.)
