I highly recommend reading through the International Classification of Headache Disorders to anyone who gets migraines or chronic headaches. Getting an accurate read on what type of headache you experience (and there are many, many subtypes) helps narrow down which treatments are most likely to be effective, and provides more specific information on how to keep yourself more comfortable during an attack.
Fair warning, the text is pretty dense, and it’s important to read the “How to use the classification” guide before attempting to self diagnose, but I think anyone who has a severe headache disorder will definitely find some valuable information here:
