Summary: Two years after her brother's death, Orihime is the only surviving Inoue. When her aunt comes to visit, she proposes the idea of a competition for Orihime's husband. Five men, one princess. Will the peasant with the bright orange hair accidentally win her over?
I made a video and I wanted to share it with you all. The quality kinda sucks (I think I might need higher video resolution), but I hope you will enjoy it nonetheless!
Haven’t written anything in a while and I know I’m late for Valentine’s Day, but feel the urge and hopefully will translate this into other much needed updates on my stories. :)
Orihime fairly floated through the grocery isle picking up all the items she needed to make the perfect chocolates for her boyfriend. The fact that she could now think of Ichigo Kurosaki as her boyfriend still sent the blood rushing to her cheeks.
This was not the first time she had made chocolates for Valentine’s Day, but it would be the first time that she was making more than one kind. She would still make her traditional friendship chocolates for all her friends at school, plus a couple for Rukia and Rangiku as well as those at Urahara’s shop. Now, she would also have to include the rest of the Kurosaki family to her list and she had made sure to ask Ichigo what kinds of treats his family enjoyed, to which he had replied that anything she made would delight them.
When she had asked Ichigo what kind of chocolate he liked, he had stared up at the ceiling while scratching furiously at the back of his head as he declared, “I like your usual chocolates just fine, but you can make me whatever you like and with whatever you want. I don’t mind.”
And with that ‘green light’, she knew exactly what kind of chocolates she was going to make. She had saved up enough money to buy extra ingredients so that she could taste-test the recipe she was going to experiment with ahead of time and spent the week before Valentine’s making and adjusting the recipe until it matched the idea Orihime had in mind.
Valentine’s Day finally arrived and Orihime delicately packed Ichigo’s box of chocolates at the bottom of her tote bag with the ones for everyone else arranged precisely over top of it. Setting out, Orihime felt her heart flutter and jump with nervous yet eager excitement as she imagined Ichigo’s possible reactions to her heart-felt creations.
Passing out her friendship chocolates went much the same as it always did with everyone kindly accepting them with a smile and sometimes a hug. However, when she got to Ichigo’s box, Orihime suddenly felt very self-conscious and hesitant to give it to him in front of everyone.
As per usual, almost all of the friends picked up on Orihime’s anxiety and each one prepared to spring into action in their own way, yet it was her boyfriend who beat them all and once again swooped in to save the princess.
Stretching his arms above his head, Ichigo rolled his shoulders as he said, “Hey, I feel like taking a quick walk before class starts since I’m still a bit groggy. Wanna join me, Orihime?”
“Y-yes, please,” she replied in a tone that held little substance yet a lot of emotion.
Ichigo’s hand twitched as if he were about to take hers and lead her out of the room, but then he stopped himself and simply stepped back, waiting for her to lead the way. Ingrained decorum and manners were the only things that propelled Orihime forward before the rest of her brain was given a chance to come up with some sort of stumbling response to Ichigo’s question.
Wandering aimlessly through the hallways for a time, the pair somehow managed to make their way down to the club rooms which were conveniently empty during this part of the day. Of one accord, they stopped in front of the media, yearbook and newsletter club room and stood for a time in silence, each wracking their brains for something, anything to say to the other.
Gripping the handles of her tote as if they were the only thing keeping her grounded, Orihime said shakily, “I made you chocolates, Ichigo.”
Clearing his throat to hide his amusement at her stating the obvious and embarrassment over it being the first time to get chocolates that weren’t meant for a friend, Ichigo stated matter-of-factly, “Yea-I mean, yes I kno-I mean...that’s cool.”
“Will you accept them?”
This was not a question Ichigo had expected and he frowned slightly as he responded slowly, “Well, yeah. Aren’t I supposed to?”
Something flashed in Orihime’s eyes, but quickly disappeared as she reached into the tote and ever so carefully lifted the box out and held it out to him. Giving her what he thought was his usual grateful and confident half-grin (both sides of his mouth were twitching nervously), Ichigo took the box from her. For a moment, Ichigo was simply going to thank her and then say he would try them later during lunch since they needed to get to class, but then he remembered the look in Orihime’s eyes and decided instead to have one right away.
Opening the box, he saw five chocolates nestled inside. Picking one up, he bit into it and his eyes widened at the succulent tastes. The chocolate shell was good quality and well tempered, but the filling inside was unlike anything he had ever had before. There was a firm square of a kind of mixed berry filling, yet once his teeth sunk through it, there came a slight gush of caramel from the middle. As he chewed, he also discovered a kind of pop rock candy that made the inside of his mouth tingle pleasantly. Finally, apparently Orihime had blended a decent amount of ground up chili flakes into the filling as he felt his face flush slightly from the slow burning aftertaste.
“Wow...” was all that he could think of to say.
“Do you like it?”
“Yeah...yeah, I do. It’s great.”
Giving Ichigo a smile that didn’t seem quite a cheery as usual, Orihime replied, “I’m so glad. Well, we’d better get back to class.”
Got a little more to add to this, but my head is killing me as I’ve had a couple of really late nights and not nearly enough sleep, so I’ll get to it tomorrow morning hopefully....
ichixhime replied to your photo “¦Did her head drag itself away by the tongue?”
It has a clean cut on the neck so I doubt it and spoiler alert someone took it
Well, yeah, I was meaning more like after her head was chopped off, her head dragged itself away, but I guess that doesn’t matter, pfft.

D, this is the trio's trip to Lukedonia XDD
*SNORT*
...
Wait. Rai...should have known they were there, pfffft. But since he doesn’t know anything about planes, he wouldn’t have thought it was that weird where they were. Aside from not telling Frankenstein when the trio had essentially been told not to come. ...Though I guess Frankenstein was more like, ‘We’re going to Lukedonia and here’s stuff to look after yourself with’ so to Rai they hadn’t really broken any rules or anything so didn’t need to speak up.
...but Ichigo needing a little encouragement from an outside source to actually take that first step and ask Orihime out is not OOC. What would have been OOC for him was if he suddenly became this suave, self-confident ladies man who made all the girls swoon.
And this did not come ‘out of nowhere’. Ichigo summoned up the courage to ask Orihime if he could walk her home once again only this time she said yes. Something about how he asked her must have been different. His expression. His tone. And she caught onto this fact. Previously, he had been asking her if he could walk a friend home and make sure she got there all right. This time, he was asking if he could spend a little quality time with her in a more intimate way before actually taking the full plunge.
Sounds exactly like something Ichigo would do to me. But like I said, I know that most everyone who reads this post will agree with me. Maybe not in all the details, but in the overarching ideas at least.
