Another day, another sermon, the masses under the Order had become far more frequent now with the common occurrence of demonic attacks. Sighing, languidly, Nero wanted nothing to do with that as he ventured past wooden doors, ignoring the warning from one of the knights stationed at the entrance. The youth was capable, more than capable, of defending himself if a Scarecrow was to stand in his way.
Leaping up onto a small alcove of a nearby house, the teen reached into his pocket to pull out an MP3 player, turning up the volume of his music as he took a moment to bask in the warm morning rays. This was far more gratifying than listening to some preaching about a demon who may, or may not, exist. Resting his cast arm atop his chest, the teen closed his eyes, a small grin forming on his lips as he lightly bobbed his head to the music. It was peaceful too, until a burning sensation rippled through twisted flesh, springing the teen into action.
“Give me a break,” Nero muttered, rolling out of the way of a demonic blade that attempted to pierce his chest. Pushing himself into a standing position, he revved the hilt of the Red Queen, ready to strike the imposing demon down. Well, so much for a relaxing morning, but this was still better to him than enduring another one of Sanctus’s lectures.
The demons were dispatched easily, nothing more than foot soldiers that dared to encroach upon the city’s streets. Admiring his handiwork, Nero ambled a bit before holstering his sword again, brushing his lone hand off on his jacket before the burning sensation in his arm began again. This time; however, the pain thrummed, creating more of a tingling sensation than a burning one. It was almost as if his arm was being pulled in a direction, but to what and where, he wasn’t sure.
“What... The hell?” he placed his left hand atop his bandaged wrist, taking a moment to inspect his surroundings. There was nothing, no one, no demons or anything. Feeling on edge, Nero turned his back against the fountain, cover to protect himself from a possible flank attack.
“I know you’re there!” he called out, azure orbs scanning the area. “What? Too chicken to face me?”
