Dear Fran,

         Through many adventures and unsung stories you have been by my side, my faithful companion. Most likely, I will never say these things where other people can hear, nor will I send this letter. In fact, I intend to dispose of it shortly after finishing. The reason I am writing it is solely to confirm what I feel our relationship is, and will be.

         We, together, have put an end to the great sky fortress of Bahamut. We have explored dungeons dark and stolen valuable gems from kingdoms. We have known wealth and poverty, yet our spirits have always been high. You will always be my lifelong friend, and I hope that the Strahl will continue to take us to places unknown and through journeys unseen. As long as you are with me on this airship, we can travel anywear.

Why, Fran is the most piratical viera this land has ever known! She has been my constant comrade, and never shall anyone rise up to replace her. I will most likely depart this world before her, as is the condition of being a hume. I hope, however, that I may always stay within her mind, even after death.

Balthier fears the day that she might die before him. As a viera, her life is longer than his, and he truly hopes that she will be the one living without him, and not the other way around. He knows this is selfish, but he is not entirely sure he could live without his greatest ally.

          It has been quite the pleasure sharing time with you inside the great Alexandria Library. Though the hours spent scouring the library for even the smallest amount of information were tiring, it was not in vain. I would very much like to visit again one day, so perhaps-

          My sincerest apologies, I have just realized how difficult it would be to send a letter across time and space to you. The fare I would have to pay would be far past what I would like to spend, at the very least, if you disregard the trouble of trying to cross dimensions. I shall stop writing now, something I should have done several sentences ago.

"My, my, Queen. I was not aware of the pleasure involved in being in such close proximity to you." he snuggled in closer. Though it was not his style to perform such acts with another, it was actually quite comforting to be with Garnet in this way. "We have to do this more often, you and I."

"Garnet, eh? Well, I have had my fair share of dealing with runaway-princesses-come-queen, and they are not the easiest to deal with. Strong-willed and stubborn, prone to bouts of reasonless arguments and fits of anger. Garnet, I will say, is much more level-headed. She is a good ruler, one who I would bow to myself. There is not much more to say, in that regard."

Balthier, though he loathes to admit it, cares very deeply for those who he is friends with. Much like with Ashe, the only fear he has for Garnet is if someone or something were to cause her harm. He has no trouble with dealing with her on a personal level, though.
