Joey shifts uncomfortably in that line of questioning. “My biggest fear...” He rubs his duel disc to ease his thoughts. “Is that all my efforts thus far have been fruitless. I’ve helped a lot of people, done a lot of good, but what if I get to the end, what if I get to Kaiba and it’s all been for naught?” He goes silent, running his tongue over his teeth. I don’t want to fail... 

The next question definitely lightens the mood, and he lets out a chuckle. “I don’t get angry, per se. It's just frustration.” He rests his head on his chin. “If I ever get angry, truly pissed, be afraid. Even I’m not sure what exactly I’d do to you. I decked one copy of Kaiba, in one of the other dimensions, without exchanging a single word though, if that answers your question.” He smiles at that meta thought.

“Oh? You wanna see my scars? Normally, I’d ask for dinner first, but I’m sure you’re just curious.” Joey leans down, pulling up his pant’s leg just enough to reveal skin. There, burns scars permeate up his calf. “Ra’s fire left a little more than just a mark. Got burn scars up both legs. Luckily, the rest of them didn’t scar too bad and faded away.” 

Then he rolls up his jacket sleeve partway, revealing varying types of scars on and around his hands. “I’ve also got some scars from brawls downtown. One bastard had a knife and cut me up pretty good. ‘pparently he thought I was a good mark for robbin’. Other than dat though, I’ve just singed myself a couple of times sautering ole Frankie here.” The duel disc at his side beeps affirmatively.

“If it wasn’t endin’, I’d ‘sume dat I was dreamin’,” Joey replies irritably, swinging his hand out as if cursing the sky. He lets his hand fall to his thigh though, and he sucks in a deep breath to brace himself.

 “Cause I’m always involved whether I like it or not. Hell, I usually get front row seats.” He adds bitterly, but that bitterness fades quickly, and he raises his gaze to Lass.’ “So what’s da plan?”
