can you talk about mississippi kites pls theyre my favorite bird ever and unfortunately the only kite i can see where i live
Here in Houston, theyre currently flying over the neighborhood, looking for treats. We even have them nesting inthe park where I work this year!!!
Mississippi Kite (Ictinia mississippiensis), family Accipitridae, order Accipitriformes
Found in the the SE US, Mexico, Central America, and central South America. (Found in spotty locations in the central and SW parts of the U.S.)
Growing up to 16 in (40 cm) in body length.
Migratory, overwintering in South America.
They prey on a wide variety of large insects, such as cicadas, katydids, grasshoppers, as well as a variety of small vertebrates.
These birds usually nest in colonies, laying 2-3 eggs per year.
