I just discovered your blog, and I think all of your post are really creative and fun to read. If you have the time, could you do a list about the powers of a child of Aphrodite. It would mean a lot if you could. Thanks. :)

Yess I have so many Aphrodite cabin powers to talk about.

Charmspeak: Some children of Aphrodite have the ability to convince others to do their will through speech only. This is a very rare power, and usually is only found in very powerful children of Aphrodite.

Persuasion: A lower form of charmspeak. Requires the user to come into physical contact with the other person to convince them to do something, and is more easily resisted than charmspeak.

French: All children of Aphrodite are fluent in French from birth, as well as whatever their native language may be (such as English).

Language Fluency: (something I headcanon) Many children of Aphrodite find it very easy to pick up languages of all variances, due to all languages and nations in the world having love.

Romance Foretelling: Some children of Aphrodite have the power to foretell what kind of person somebody is destined to be with.

Soulmates: Powerful/experienced users of this power may also be able to tell who someone’s true soulmate is and start someone on their quest to find them. 

Relationships: The power to look at a couple and predict their whole relationship together, from start to finish.

Matchmaking: Common power. Children of Aphrodite are very good at matchmaking, and are usually very good at starting relationships that last for a very long time.

Appearance: A more common power, the ability to alter one’s appearance. Takes a lot of effort, but allows children of Aphrodite to alter their bodies.

With practice, some children of Aphrodite can also alter other people’s bodies, but it takes a lot of diligence and power.

Beauty curses: Not very common, not very rare. Takes practice. The ability to curse others with poor beauty, such as bad hair days, bloating, zits, etc.

Feeling control: The ability to change people’s feelings, usually manifests in a love/hate control. Has a rather gradual effect, can cause people to fall in love/hate each other over a period of time.

Love blasts: Sudden, strong blasts of emotion that can sweep over a crowd. Usually used as a stalling/distraction method.

Control over flowers: Otherwise known as Chlorokinesis. Flowers usually associated strongly with love or Aphrodite, such as roses, some children of Aphrodite have power over. With a magical item/gift, these flowers can even be convinced to fight/help in dire situations.

Animal control: Many children of Aphrodite have a natural affinity for animals, as animals are naturally drawn towards them.

Fashion/makeup sense: Some children of Aphrodite have an innate understanding of what looks good on certain people and body types. They can accurately predict simply by looking at clothes and a person what they will look good in and what they won’t.

Can you do traitie headcannons or fanfiction? There's just not enough traitie out there and they are (/have the potential to be) sooooooo adorable

Mmm yes I love them they are so frikken cute.

Keeping their relationship a secret because their friends are so smug about it.

Getting assigned to do a mission together and comPLAINING SO LOUDLY ABOUT IT like UGH HIM I HATE HIM I cANNot beLIevE i HAVE TO SPEND TWO WEEKS IWTH HIM.

Then as soon as they’re fifteen minutes from camp they’re acting like a couple.

Constantly bickering but it’s not like mean bickering like ~sexual tension~ bickering.

They constantly get mistaken for either siblings or a couple and depending on who they’re with they’ll be angered by one or the other.

Falling asleep on each other in public because they’re so comfortable with each other and the other pretending to complain about it

But everyone sees the one being slept on’s soft smile at this and know ‘jesus these two really are bad at hating each other’

Everyone constantly telling them to get together but always vehemently denying it

then probably meeting up that same night to have a midnight date by the water with some smuggled in soda and candy

got any headcanons for children of Eris?

Eris: Goddess of discord and strife.

Excellent prankers. When a child of Eris and a child of Hermes get together there’s bound to be trouble all throughout camp.

They tend to get bored by calm situations so they always know exactly what to say to descend a room into chaos

Are those kids who can ask a question at the start of class and send the teacher on a spiral, making them completely forget about their lesson plan

Can send any room into chaos with two words

Make excellent lawyers

Will literally fight over anything

That kid in class who is really loud and constantly trolling everyone else

“THEY DIDN’T HAVE STREETS IN THE 1800′S!`

Probably have the words “very smart, lots of potential, doesn’t apply themselves” written on every report card back to the third grade

Adhd+dyslexia+general goofing off in class does not equal application of self in a teacher’s eyes.

Usually very intelligent, able to properly asses any situation

Very good at finding weak spots in defenses, in people or armies.

Loving your headcanons on the demigods powers. Do you think the Athena kids have some other than just incredibly smart?

No, I don’t. I think that Athena kids don’t have any other powers apart from intelligence. But, I don’t believe that puts them at a disadvantage.

Honestly as a self-identified Athena kid I might be hella biased but I honestly think that having intelligence and no powers is actually an advantage. They’re not reliant on those powers, and their intelligence can’t be taken away from them like powers can, not without ruining their mind (and at that point you might as well be dead). 

Athena kids have to learn to be self-reliant. They have to push themselves harder and farther to get to the same place other demigods naturally are. They don’t get to fight with vines or have an innate ability with the bow. There’s also a lot of them, so their chances of having a weapon beamed down from mom is pretty low (although Annabeth does have her cap, still not a weapon) (and it’s not likely eVERYone has a personalized gift from mom that’s just not).

The best fandom example I can come up with for this is how it never occurred to wizards to A) use a gun or B) just give a death eater a good sock to the nose. That’s because they have magic sticks, they’re fighting against other people with magic sticks, they don’t consider using a solid right-hook to defeat someone when they have such a MASS amount of power, when they can kill you with two words. But what is a muggle gonna do? They don’t have any other way to defend themselves. Sock ‘em in the nose it is.

I’m going to keep this short but I’m also going to just post these down here that came in later in my full-length essay (that I sliced down to a few paragraphs because none of y’all want to read that).

I didn't see it on the master list have you done any headcanons for kids of Hephaestus powers yet?? Or do you think they don't have any other than being able to build pretty much anything??

they don’t……have any other?? have u ever read something written by the owner of this blog?? even if it’s the most irrelevant fuckin god ever she will wring out like 9 powers 24 personality traits and 3 ways for their existence to occur come on

Thanks Raviv. Funnily enough, I JUST responded to an ask about children of Athena not having any powers. Hephaestus is kinda similar in the sense that his kids don’t have a lot of branches of power, like children of Apollo do. BUT they do have a few powers. I would just like to note though, even if these powers are common a lot of Hephaestus kids probably don’t have ~powers~.

Pyrokinesis: Very rare. The ability to control fire. Hephaestus is the God of fire, however as stated canonically, children of Hephaestus with this power only show up in dire times when shit is about to get real.

Fire resistance: Very common. Even if children of Hephaestus can’t control fire, I think most of them have varying degrees of resistance to fire and the forges.

Technokinesis: Not very common but not very rare either. The ability to control machines, or possibly even animate them. This is a power Leo presents with.

The ability to touch/look at a machine and be able to tell what makes it up and how it works.

Communicating with AI/intelligent machinery through not necessarily conventional methods

Be able to use almost any type of machinery

Be able to sense traps/machinery that’s nearby.

Animating technology or making it sentient (very rare, probably happens on accident because Hephaestus will not be pleased if his kid tries to make an army of machines).

Enhanced forging: Very common. Hephaestus kids have an innate advantage when it comes to forging, and usually their items are of a significantly higher quality than others.

Trap creation: Common, a lot of Hephaestus kids are great at throwing together traps and understanding what they’re given and how to work with it.

Machine sensitivity: Common, a lot of Hephaestus kids can be easily tuned in to machines, especially if they have a bond with the machine in question.

I just wanna say I love your headcanons, and I was wondering if you could do powers for children of Tyche? (I don't know if you did this already sorry)

You can always check my master list! I update it every few weeks (it’s under ‘master’ on my blog). Or, you can just go to my blog and search the ‘powers’ tag, or the tag for the specific god ‘Children of XXX’ :) But no, I haven’t done powers of Tyche yet, so here ya go!

Tychokinesis: The ability to impact chance (or luck). Named for the Goddess Tyche. These are all of the powers that fall under Tychokinesis, so there’s a broad range of powers but one branch for kids of Tyche. *note* a few of these powers overlap with a Nike powers hc I recently did. That’s because Nike has the ability to alter the probability of winning something, but it is deFInitely not as powerful as Tyche’s powers.

Lucky Charm: The ability to charm certain objects to either have good/bad luck. Especially useful when you’re sending your ex back their stuff. 

Curses: Casting bad luck onto certain people

Charms: Casting good luck onto certain people

Probability: The ability to change the chance of something happening, for example, a 50/50 chance of a heads/tails outcome turned into a 10/90 chance of a heads/tails outcome.

Negation: The ability to detect curses/charms cast on people/objects and negate it. Also can break cheating devices in games, etc.

Felix Felicis effect: Rare ability, but essentially can create a Felix-Felicis like effect, usually through something that passes through the system. Either like a fake tattoo or a brownie or a cup of tea. But something that will destroy itself.

Chance encounter: Can increase the chances of an odd encounter, like running into a celebrity at a Wendy’s or finding a $10 bill in your pocket. Usually done subconsciously, background noise power, can’t really control it. Very random.

Betting: Are very accurate when it comes to betting, either because they will impact the outcome of a game or have a ‘gut feeling’ on who will win, which is almost always spot on (unless someone else adds in other factors)

Luck aura: Can read the aura of people when it comes to luck, if they have good luck, bad luck, no luck.

Luck control: Can either drain, increase, or transfer somebody’s luck. Goes hand-in-hand with someone’s luck aura. You can take someone’s good luck turning it bad, increase their luck turning their bad luck good, or just give them some of your luck.

So, you wrote about Athena kids powers, and how they probably just have intelligence. As an Athena kid, I agree — a lot. But also as an Athena kid, I know that I wouldn't like the lack of divine power; see Annabeth in Mark of Athena. So what do you think of things like basic sorcery for Athena kids? Because it's witchCRAFT and the mystic ARTS, which are also spheres of Athena's rule... is that something you could consider?

Yeah if you want to headcanon that, go for it! (Appreciate the use of wordplay btw v nice). But that’s just one of my staple things. Lots of demigods have powers, but Athena kids don’t in my eyes.

But, my word isn’t canon law or anything. You can totally disagree with me on that and make Athena kids the most power ridden op demigods in the ‘verse and I would be POWERless to stop you. That’s not a pun I can’t pun oh god I’m so sorry.

But yeah, I definitely agree on the whole lack of divine power being infuriating and annoying. And I support the idea any Athena kid can do what they want if they set their mind to it! I’m sure with a few gifts or maybe a blessing and some elbow grease an Athena kid could learn some really basic sorcery. Might not even necessarily be sorcery - people call witchcraft simply things they don’t understand in some cases. Tricks of the light or traps or contraptions, I fully support an Athena kid just going out and making their own powers.

Okay, let’s get started!

She’s really smart and he’s really pretty.

Like she’s top of her class, straight A’s, speaks four languages, talented and amazing and incredibly gorgeous.

But who’s more gorgeous? Her boyfriend. 

Gorgeous tan, perfectly fitted clothes. Always the best dressed in the room. Glasses that perfectly fit his face, eyelashes to die for, hair that always looks just perfect. He wears it effortlessly, with a perfect amount of confidence without seeming careless.

They’re intimidating on paper, but in real life they’re literally harmless

They have daily arguments over things like shoelaces, pronunciations of names and words, and anything else.

“no pronounces egg like that! You’re insane!”

Get into deep philosophical conversations at any time of the day, get too deep.

Go shopping together, because they both kinda hate shopping alone but love shopping with each other. Go to all the nicest stores and try on all the clothes and rate each other.

They’re a power couple on paper but a couple of harmless marshmallows irl.

They study together constantly and go on starbucks runs for each other.

Both of them hate exercising so they never exercise literally ever.
