Aboru Aboye Abosise Ifa/Orisa beads (Ilekes) These beads are not just for fashion, but for protection, some people don't know that these beads mean a lot. They are to protect and prevent people from death and harm. Regarding the story I heard about these beads: There was a man, he lived in the city, he had two daughters, they liked to travel to see their grandfather, he is an Ifa Priest (Babalawo). He gave them these beads from Ifa(Ileke). When they got home, the father took the beads out, and shouted at them disapproving of the use of the Ilekes. So they made the accounts in a way that the Father would not take from them. One day the girls went to Avo's house, on the way they were kidnapped by those people who use humans for money rituals. But when they saw the Ilekes they wore, they were so scared they were forced to greet them in the traditional way, “Aboru Aboye”, and the girls responded, “Ogbo ato asure iwori wofun” and were released. They came home and told their parents, if it weren't for the beads, they would have been used for rituals. Observation: These ritualists are not babalawos, and they were afraid of what would happen if the sacrifice of the daughters of Ifa/Orisa was offered. One who wears protection beads is protected by Ifa and Olodumare That's why the Ilekes are not mere jewelry or something that just anyone can buy, make or use. They should be consecrated by a priest. There is a reason, a foundation and prescription for their use.
