Jeanne against the Kardashians
As you might have seen, I reblogged a couple of pictures from http://jeannedamas.tumblr.com/.
It’s Jeanne Damas.
I’m not going to tell you her biography, if you’re interested google it.
I want to discuss her influence in fashion, beauty but more important in our generation.
In times of classism and capitalism, people like the Kardashians (which I totally respect and get excited about everything they do) rebuild a new way of a lifestyle, aesthetic ideal, actually role models.
When you think of style icons, names like Bridget Bardot, Grace Kelly, Jane Birkin, Audrey Hepburn, etc. immediately attract attention. In the future there could be a Kim K followed by a lot of other plastic surgeries. Those mentioned women, were beautiful, obviously natural beauties. Their classic, never out of style or even decade. Still today famous and breathetaking.
And here it comes to Jeanne. European girl, excusez-moi french girl. She is embracing all the benefits that made women to iconic beauties. If you look at her flawless and carefree appearence, that used to be beautiful. Nowadays, it is all about the right contouring techniqe, drawn eyebrows, overdrawn lips, waist trainers, tons of other silly stuff. Probably that is future, we’ll see.
Do we really want to deal with that? Becoming the artist of your face? Living a lie?
It might appear exaggerated. However, just letting you now besides fakeness there is still realness.
Due to people like Jeanne, generations are still allowed to be themselves, keeping on with self love instead of keeping on with the Kardashians (again no hate, they just represent a sick society).
