And while we’re on the subject of terminology usage: I get it, as a bi nb person, why it’s tempting to use terminology like butch, femme, bear, and twink and I even get, to a lesser extent, the desire to claim f*g and d*ke. Having language to describe yourself, language that connects you to a wider community, is powerful. However, you owe it to yourself and your lg siblings to have terms that are unambiguously rooted in your bi/nb identity. It’s difficult because those terms don’t exist or aren’t in widespread use, but that doesn’t mean we can’t create them or find communities in them. We are living in an age where we have the unprecedented ability to connect to others like ourselves and we need to take advantage of that.
