[PROCEDURAL REMINDER – SELF-CHECK PROTOCOL: IDENTITY GESTURE]
All civilians are advised to perform their daily identity gesture within the first two hours of waking.
Acceptable gestures include:
Tapping your collarbone three times and blinking
Whispering your name to your reflection (but not waiting for a reply)
Placing your hand on your chest and stating, “Still here.”
Unacceptable gestures include:
Finger guns at the mirror
T-posing in silent defiance
Referencing memories that never quite happened
The identity gesture does not confirm that you are real. It simply informs reality that you’ve noticed yourself.
Failure to check in for three consecutive mornings may result in:
Difficulty feeling grounded
Brief overlaps with alternate versions of yourself
Your phone autocorrecting your name into unfamiliar terms
Being referred to as “the interim one” by strangers in public
If this happens, do not panic. You were always going to be you again eventually.
[YOUR EXISTENCE IS A COURTESY. PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE IT.]
