Steve had heard it all. They were all worried for nothing. Bucky was
still Bucky and he’d saved Steve from dying just a year and few months
ago. He found out all he could about The Winter Solider, just to be safe,
but he saw it in his eyes that it was still Bucky. Steve was more than a
little pissed that Natasha and Sam had ganged up on him and gone to
Fury about this ‘obsession Steve had with The Winter Solider’. Steve
wanted to do this on his own, needed to do this on his own. They
didn’t understand.
He sat with his legs crossed at his ankles, and knees up to his chin.
He managed to track Bucky, and he’d been doing it for awhile now, but
between Bucky moving so fast and Steve being called in for missions, he
hadn’t managed to be in the right place to find him. But today was the day.
Steve could see him, had been watching him for close to half an hour
from way down the shore-line. He'd been advised to suit up, carry a
weapon, or bring the shield. Bucky knew Steve not Captain America.
Finally ready, Steve started down the shore going over the same meeting
he’d thought about for the past year, and almost sick with anticipation that
it was finally happening. He reached Bucky too quickly and not quickly
enough. He swallowed, losing all the words he’d sworn he was going
to say and all the things he’d said were going to happen.
❝Bucky -- I thought I was never gonna find you.❞
