Here are some idioms
Aren’t you a cat with cream? - Aren’t you smug/proud?
Even the stars die - Everything dies (Often said to individuals in an existential crisis)
Wilted flowers only need water and sunshine - I figure this one is probably said to young sellers who are upset/hurt
Would you care to see if the moon heard? -When one is being overly loud, probably said more by Unseelie / Basically ‘I think ‘insert country besides on you are in’ heard you
A tongue of shards - To describe someone with a cruel tongue/ who is mean
When I am surrounded by wolves who are dressed like rabbits, do I need rabbits at all? -Basically ‘with friends like those, who needs enemies?’
More starved than a bear after hibernation - Really really hungry
To be ‘like a skunk’ - To be generally unpleasant (Okay I love skunks, but I know many people don’t)
A tree may not grow in a day, yet it often falls in one - Probably a seelie saying but it means that even the strongest/oldest foes can be beaten
Do I look like I have your petals? -Probably Unsselie who are awful to the Seelie asking if they look like they care
And that is all the owl screeched - equivalent to ‘that’s all she wrote’
Have you swallowed a bee? - Cat got your tongue (My cat swallowed a wasp and it stung him the whole way down, his throat swelled so I think it tracks)
At least the crickets quiet - Talking about someone who does not shut up
Had I been a human - Equivalent to when pigs fly
Did a horse kick you when you were young? - a very unkind thing to say, probably more of an Unseelie thing, but there are cruel beings in any species/sub-species meaning ‘Were you dropped on your head’
Vines grow slowly, but at least they grow - also cruel, To describe someone who is particularly dumb
Have you lost your season? - Asking if they’ve lost their mind
And you would count your flowers before they bloom? -A Seelie phrase that’s equivalent to counting your chickens/ducks before they hatch
If you water plants enough even they die, - An Unseelie saying about seelies that is cruel meaning if you give them enough they die themselves
Why are you set on a rock? - Why are you set on something so stupid?
Do you believe the sun stops shining when you no longer see it? -Do you only believe what you can see?
I would sooner ingest iron/salt - I’d rather die
