The cold wind hushed behind you. Everytime your eyes fall on the river in front of you, they want to water more. Dried tears on the cheek said more than needed and the weather was doing no justice. Today was very overstimulating–not only today but for the past few days you feel dead. You lick your ice cream before lowering it with a sniff following along. Your throat burned, eating ice cream in december is not the best idea ever.
But yet again, leaving all the struggles right now, your eyes kept on zoaning out towards the river. Mapo bridge is infamous for things happening there but the view is amazing. You gulp, eyes lowering as if measuring the distance between the bridge and you.
Only one instrumental blasted your ear on repeat, “old doll,” it was loud but in this moment everything faded away. If anyone saw you from afar at the same moment, they won’t even notice you. Fog surrounded you. You stepped closer as everything felt blurry and before you know i–
You flinch as a frown creased between your eyebrows. Releasing a sigh, you take step back and look around. Only one thing repeated in your ears at the moment now, “Jeon calling, answer it.” “Jeon calling, answer it.”
Siri repeated, once, twice before the ice cream slipped from your hand leaving a bit of cream on the selve as you reach your pocket to pick the call. You have to answer him, it’s been while since you saw him or even had a conversation with him properly.
Interestingly he knows when to call you because you really weren’t conscious about your actions earlier and telling anyone would be embarrassing.
“Hello?” you awkwardly answer with that same tight feeling in your throat that was similar in your voice. You can hear the club noises fading away meaning he’s going outside. You did check the group chat but truly, you had no time to go because you wanted to come to your favourite place. Mapo bridge.
Jungkook cleared his throat, “Yo, where are you? Jieun’s asking for you. Why didn’t you come today?” he asks with that soft concern he has for everybody.
“At work, sorry I couldn’t make it.” you reply, the little raspiness giving away that you’ve balling your eyes. Fuck. “I’ll come by later to get Jieun, did she get drunk again?”
“Don’t worry ‘bout it, you okay?” he murmured back, voice low and you know he has that frown in his eyebrows sensing something is wrong.
You hated this feeling. Feeling of being vulnerable in front of him or any man in general even if this one is your best friend. “I’m fine, kook, trust me.”
“You sure? Is it work you’re stressed bou–”
You cut him off, “Not really, just stuff happening. Y’know, life?” you giggle as he chuckles back.
“Okay, heard your car was at repair, want me to pick you up from work?” he questioned, “Cuz i’m dropping Jieun off too…”
He trailed off waiting for an answer. A bit awkward as you clear your throat, “Oh forgot to tell you that I rented a car for few days.”
“Rented? To go to work?” of course he’s confused, who rents a car for mere 3 days. “Isn’t your workplace nearby your place? And I’ve been texting you ‘bout dropping you but didn’t get a reply. Got so busy?”
You hum back, “Too much shit going, I’ll explain when I reach home.”
“Okay, imma leave with Jieun then, you know where her room keys at?” he questions before adding, “you’re getting investigated at home.”
Of course it’s a joke as you laugh slightly before walking towards to reach the end of the bridge and parking lot, “Bet, and her keys should be in her purse. Is she drunk drunk?”
“Oh shit, you don’t wanna see,” he laughs, “she’s been whiny to call Ryun again,”
You giggle, “Don’t let her touch the phone or I’m punching you.”
“Yes ma’am, I would never. Her phone’s with me.” you can hear the smile in his words, you missed this banter. Been a while since you both talked normally. “I’ll see you at the dorm.” he adds.
“You driving? Didn’t drink tonight?”
He tusks dismissively, “How dare you think I’ll drink without my drinking buddy?”
“Me?” you gasp loudly on purpose as if taking his words as offence, “I don’t drink at all. I’m a saint.” giggling you get in the car, starting the engine to warm up the car.
“Mhm, very saint like you weren’t chugging drinks down last time.”
You hum back, “That was strict peer pressure, jeon.” you deadpan as he laughs. “I win.” you declare.
“Nuh uh not fair, I’ll make you lose next time.” He tsks. “Anyways, get home asap, it’s bout to snow and be safe. No accidents, please.”
“Don’t worry kook, get home safe and make sure Jieun is a bit sobbered by the time i come.” you add even though you are aware that he’ll be fed up by her ex whines. God he really hated that man ‘cuz of all the bullshits he created in Jieun’s life.”
“Yeah, yeah, see you.” last thing he says before hanging. You throw the phone on the passenger seat. Take a puff from your vape before playing some music and driving away hoping the Jungkook does not catch up with whatever happened ‘cuz he’d be pissed.
