something i think about with eah is how it desensitizes everyone to the horrible things from the fairytales. who cares if a kingdom is overrun with thorns and the princess is cursed? that happens every couple of hundred years. we just wait until a timer goes off somewhere and then send a prince in. who cares if a different princess eats cursed food? it happens every generation, she'll be asleep for as long as it takes for her prince to find her, maybe a week. hell, maybe she doesn't even go missing, maybe the dwarves' cottage is on the white family property or it's own well known location.

i mean, snow white literally named her daughter APPLE and sleeping beauty named her daughter BRIAR - they clearly dont take their curses seriously. to them, it's not something to be feared but embraced and honored with names.

it's very macabre. you'd expect these sorts of names from the villains of the story, but instead these are two royal heroine princesses.

Wu doesn't legally exist. He and Garmadon predate all modern governments. Garmadon only exists on two forms: his marriage certificate and lloyd's birth certificate as the father.

Lloyd, as mentioned above, has a birth certificate, all the stuff you get when you are born like an ssn, and he has school records from his time at darkley's. they are VERY out of date and is the reason he does not have a driver's license, or any form of ID. he doesn't want to have to talk to a government employee about Magic Tea.

Kai and Nya probably have information from their births, but it's lost somewhere in their family's attic and both were abandoned too young to know/care about that kinda stuff until they're much older and have an "oh shit" moment when trying to get a driver's license.

Jay's information is safely filed away, and his parents badgered him into a learner's permit before the series even began. sadly, however, the series started his wild adventures, and he doesn't realize until much later that he never a) got an official driver's license or b) updated his permit, so it is no longer valid.

Cole's dad didn't let him leave the village to go to "school" without a driver's license. Not just a permit,but a full license. Cole was good at keeping it updated, but life got out of hand and he ended up forgetting.

Zane doesn't legally exist and decides he doesn't want to explain to a DMV worker why that is, so he just hacks the DMV and prints his and everyone else a driver's license, as well as periodically updating them with an automatic program.

Pixal and Zane actually do have a conversation later on about nindriod legal rights and decide to bring it up to the government. it's not as big an issue as they thought, considering nobody who would be in charge of setting up IDs would openly discriminate against two public heroes, even if they had those beliefs.

am i missing anything?

also i should note this is mostly centered around early seasons. they would sort this kinda stuff much later. possibly -at the earliest- post the great devourer battle, when they have to live in ninjago and rent apartments. another chance would be after the final battle, when wu wants to run a school and they somehow become teachers.

I keep thinking about Misako and like,,, I WANT to like her. I really do, but her introduction just taints every scene with her and it might just be me rewatching the series rn but i can't get over how insanely bad the writers handled her introduction.

the set up is there for a nuanced take. its a basic idea, who is lloyd's mom? we know his dad and uncle, who is his mom? and we NEVER SPEAK OF HER until we MEET HER and every time I want to reach into the screen and yell out "Hey Misako???? Your Son -Your SON- He Is Older Than He Should Be! DO YOU MAYBE HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY ABOUT THAT?????" And she doesn't! She has nothing to say to lloyd about his age!, or much of anything else besides some generically vague "wisdom." And its kinda downhill from there. She says she gave him to Darkley's to protect him and see if she can find out how to stop the green ninja prophecy, without giving a real reason why she didn't tell WU. Wu could have trained him, and she might not have wanted that, but let's be honest in hindsight -he does need training, because she found jack fucking shit until it was convenient for exposition. There was no mention of letters sent to lloyd during his time at darkley's, no NOTHING.

It makes her look uncaring, and then devoting ANY amount of attention to her relationship with Wu just makes it more annoying.

I want to like Misako there is a goldmine of ideas, but I kinda get bashing her because of how woefully bad the writers handled her, and still handle her because she's a Older Female Side Character in a show for preteen boys. She is an ANCIENT HISTORIAN and SO AM I, I WANT TO LOVE HER... but I just can't commit.

In a different show, maybe. In AUs and fanfic, absolutely. But not in canon.

ive been wondering why so many monasteries have been placed around ninjago, and idk if it's been explicitly explained or i missed the canon reason, but it clicked with me that it could be because the merge originated at wu's monastery. like, it's source location of the merge has become an anchor point for travelling to the newly merged realms.

watching lego dreamzzz -had to stop halfway through season 2 for the night-and like holyyyy shit that pretentious FUCK of a leader Royce really just said "how dare you not have training or badges or uniforms even though i offered you none and only sent one agent to real life Brooklyn to hunt one anonmly and pretend to be a child psychologist instead sending dreamworld manpower to help defeat the nightmare king, so you all had to learn everything on the fly instead of "properly" and no i wont now extend the offer of training to you unless prompted by that same field agent we sent to Brooklyn." like WOW OKAY at least Astrid hasn't learned asshole behavior from his mentorship
