If you have a mods folder, just full of loose CC, and in game you see things you don’t want, can’t find the things you do; and everything just a mess... This is the post for you!
This is just going to be a text tutorial, as pictures probably won’t do very much good as far as helping.
So the first step is going to be to make a new folder somewhere, and name it cc organize. Inside of THAT folder, create a bunch of new subfolders and just name them as numbers, it’s not important, it’s for place holding.
Back in your mods folder-- make your own gaggle of folders with categories for names. (appliances, indoor furniture, decor, etc) and then make one folder that is AAA-TESTING [you can use the letter prefixes to further organize your folders to create kind of a fake subfolder since you can’t actually have subfolders in a subfolder.] AAA-TESTING should be at the very top.

Grab a chunk of mods from one of the numbered folders, I don’t recommend placing more than 80 CC package files in at a time, because it gets overwhelming and you should take a break often.
Open the CC viewer in S4S, start going through the package files in AAA-Testing, you can add words to the title you might search for to find the item, properly tag so toys stop showing up with plants, delete swatches you don’t need, and delete whole packages you don’t want.
[If an item shows up invisible, don’t delete it just put it in a separate folder]
after you go through the first chunk of mods, go back through the list in file explorer, and cut and paste all those mods into the properly labeled folder.
Repeat this process until you have sorted all your CC and are left with the folder full of invisible CC. It’s probably just CAS stuff.

If you don’t already have LIGHTSHOT I recommend downloading it, it is very handy screenshot tool you can make notes and correct size before even saving.
click MY PROJECTS in s4s and click on the first package, make the same judgements as before, but this time search for the item with google, and use lightshot to take a 104x148 screenshot of a photo that clearly shows what it is. Write a note in the thumbnail if you wish. Save the thumbnail in a new folder, and import into s4s as a custom thumbnail.
You can make a thumbnail for whatever you want, but it’s really only useful for skin details, tattoos and odd accessories. Clothes will usually have proper thumbnails.
[if the image is too large to fit into the 104x148 use ctrl [+] - to zoom out and in]
This is going to take a very long time depending on how much CC you have. However, it is very important to keep your CC organized for many reasons, the most important being that sometimes updates break your game and it’s difficult to track down the cause of the crash. By organizing this way, you can just remove folders until the folder with an issue fixes your game, and then from there you can easily target the broken mod.
It took me about a week to organize 5GB of CC. But man am I glad I did.
I have 75 folders, and I used letters to create fake subfolders because my decor folder would be HUGE if it was just all general decor lol. Now when I download new CC it all goes into AAA-TESTING where I sort through it using the steps above.
Thank you @idontlikeyou96 for reminding me to do this! I hope it helps <3
