@idontrecalls replied to your post: idt issues such as wars/access to clean water and things like that should be compared to cultural appropriation. both are serious issues but within their own boundaries bc mentioning them side by side makes no sense as both struggles have no resemblance. its like when someone has anxiety and someone else says its okay others have it worse. like ya others have it worse but that doesnt diminish your struggle does it? the context of political/human rights issues differ from those of social justice issues and idt it makes any sense to put those two together in the same context
I agree 👍 I don’t think saying cultural appropriation doesn’t matter because other issues are worse makes sense. They’re different problems but both need to be spoken on and both need advocates to fight them. Like I said, you can advocate for one without silencing the other. I care about both. There is frequently intersectionality between social and economic/diplomatic/etc issues but they also have loads of differences in terms of what is needed to resolve them and they don’t need to be pinned against each other
