Frederick, Edgar and Naib x !fear of committment reader
hey! I'm so sorry I took this long but my motivation's been shit again lately :,) I apologized and hope you can enjoy this^^
(also, I get u anon, unfortunately).
🎼 Frederick Kreiburg Frederick was used to moving from stage to stage, performing for wealthy patrons and climbing the ladder of fame — finally being acknowledged for his talent. He lived without strings attached, with only his goals in sight. The relationships he formed were fleeting: friendships superficial, romance merely a tool or a temporary comfort.
So when he met you, he felt an odd sense of kinship. Not because you’d give everything up for your ambitions, but because you, too, didn’t cling to permanence. He understood it — the weight of not belonging, the suffocation that came with people demanding more than you could give.
You’d tried, once. Tried to be like everyone else seemed to be. Dating, talking daily, hand-holding, pet names — all of it made your stomach churn uncomfortably. It wasn’t that you didn’t love. You did. But intimacy, when expected, felt like a cage.
With Frederick, it was different. No labels. No expectations. You spent time together. Talked. He even taught you simple piano pieces. Sometimes it still got overwhelming, especially after you’d shared your first kiss. You cared for him deeply, and that terrified you. So when it got too much, you isolated.
And he never got mad. He understood it, how you felt. That’s how your bond worked — space when needed, connection when possible. Quiet love. Respectful love. Something real, pure, even without a proper name.
🎨 Edgar Valden Like Frederick, Edgar was used to admiration — for his art, not for who he was. Love and affection? Foreign concepts. Of course, he understood romance in theory. But in practice? He had never found solace in another's presence. Never craved someone's touch.
Part of it was his upbringing. Another part was his belief that he saw deeper than most — a quiet superiority he used to mask his loneliness.
Then he met you.
The bond was intense. New emotions surfaced. He felt vulnerable, unguarded. You felt the same. Careful. Hesitant. Uncomfortably real. You’d sit side by side in the garden, paint together as he finished one of his latest works, talk by the fireplace with your knees touching as he covered you with a blanket.
You gave him everything you could — and sometimes, that meant disappearing to recharge. He didn’t always understand it, but he tried. Maybe it stung when you vanished for a few days, but he never held it against you. He waited. Quietly. Patiently. Sometimes he left a sketch he had taken of you sleeping next to him slide under your door— a wordless “I’m still here.”
You didn’t want to pull away. But sometimes love was just… too much. Still, you were trying. Trying to lean into his touch without obnoxious feelings cluttering your head. Trying to let the warmth in, even if it scared you. And Edgar — he would wait as long as it took.
🪙 Naib Subedar (slight hurt/comfort for this one!!)
Naib was rough around the edges — a mercenary with a ton of blood on his hands. But with you, he was gentle. His hands, scarred and calloused, felt soft against your skin. His voice, normally commanding and cold, dropped low and warm.
To you, he felt too good to be true. Which is exactly why it hurt so much.
You loved him. Deeply. But you couldn’t give him what he needed — not fully. You knew it- and he shoul've known too. The future talk, the intimacy, the vulnerability — it was all too much. Sometimes his words felt like pressure. When he imagined a life with you, meeting his family, building something real — your stomach knotted. You wanted to run.
You had run. You’d ignored him for days, not because you needed space — but because you were trying to push him away. Maybe if you disappeared, he’d stop loving you. Maybe it would be easier that way.
But Naib wasn’t one to give up.
“Hey,” his voice made you jump as you saw his face, peeking through your semi open door.
“Can I come in?” He asked.
“I’m tired,” you muttered.
He raised an eyebrow at your obvious lie and stepped in anyway. “You’ve been acting weird.”
“I just needed time—”
“Don’t bullshit me,” he said. “You’ve been avoiding me like I’m the plague.”
You didn’t answer. You hated confrontation — especially this kind.
“I just think... this isn’t working,” you finally whispered.
He groaned, dragging a hand over his face. “Not this again.”
“I’m serious.”
“Yeah, and I’m seriously sick of this fear talking for you.”
“It’s not fear.”
“It is,” he snapped, then softened. “And I get it. But I’m not leaving.”
You swallowed hard. “You deserve someone who can give you more.”
He didn’t flinch. “Cool. Problem is — I don’t want anyone else.”
Silence.
“I’ll give you time, space, whatever you need. Just… let me be here with you along the way. Please.”
You sighed and then surrendered, nodding. Just barely.
And he leaned in, pressing a kiss to your forehead. No judgment. Just love. Stronger than the fear trying to pull you apart. Naib knew how you were when he decided to love you, fully- and he was here for it. All of it.

Choose them cuz I think they’d be the most fitting in a way, both for being a bit avoidant themselves or just hcs lol
Tho I think there would definitely be more characters fitting 🤧
