        This was such a strange transition. It wasn’t as if you weren’t used to seeing the Ozes, but seeing them everyday was very bizarre. Watching them bicker was... amusing, actually. You never contributed, of course, but you smiled a lot more. You even laughed quietly at times. You felt like this is... 

         ...Well, the point is, they were lively. 

        They seemed to have fun, even despite how volatile their words would get. Something you never felt with Hansel and Gretel. Their stark contrasts in personalities was dizzying to your average person. You might’ve been used to it yourself, but that didn’t mean your conversations were ever similar to this. Volatile words stayed that way with the twins.

        Despite this, you felt out of place.

        You didn’t have your own niche to fill. You were glad you could be of some service as a chef, but even that felt weak compared to what you were originally suited for. Falling down to such from a caporegime is too harsh. You didn’t regret your choice, you only wished you could stop feeling like your potential wasn’t floundering. Fuka kept your thoughts at bay for the most part, but when you were on your own, it was fair game.

        You weren’t unhappy, though. Quite the contrary! Maybe you just needed to feel useful again.

        You never expressed this to anyone, not even Fuka, but you felt as if maybe it was apparent. Maybe from your diligence, or in the overstock of pre-prepared food you’ve made, or how you’ve kept the mansion so spotless dust bunnies were now afraid of you? Whatever the case, when Kyrie asked you for to join him into town, you felt as if maybe... he noticed?

        Whatever the case, you waited patiently for the consigliere in the foyer, tightening the strap that held your rifle against your back. It wasn’t even loaded, but it was a combination of habit and comfort to keep it with you anyway. Besides, one of the Oz’s rules was for them to stay armed, right?

You’re not even sure what time it was. All you knew was that it was somewhere between “Very late” and “Why are you still awake?” You wouldn’t have been able to answer that question. Why were you still awake? You were clearly quite sleepy, having been up for some time now. And yet, you couldn’t bring yourself to peel yourself from your desk. Maybe it was because you knew it was pointless? Because you knew that going into your room and trying to get something that resembled sleep would’ve been fruitless.

Which is why you were a little stunned when you had run into Kyrie. You hadn’t expected him to be up so late himself, but he did often live the nightlife. Maybe why getting him to eat breakfast was more like getting him to eat dinner sometimes. Still, he actually made an effort to invite you out. Granted, for terrible reasons, but you’ve learned to find endearment in the small gestures. His mannerisms would never grow on you, but you could learn at least a little from them.

      “You know, Kyrie, if you’re going to make me go out like this, the very least you could do is put some kind of pep to your step.”

You’re putting quite the stride in your own walk, making some kind of effort to already wear yourself down. Or, maybe you were just intentionally trying to out pace Kyrie? It wasn’t entirely clear to even yourself. It was probably a bit of both.
