The problem i have with this new discourse about how we should value our ‘lower educated’ people and their work because without them our society would WITHER and DIE is that in the same breath or news sequence they say that our school system should allow people to climb more easily. Sure true it’s currently way too hard to stack education. BUT OR you could give these people better pay and more status like we were talking about before mr politician bullshitter/news reader. These two issues should be clearly seperated. The first this has to do with the school system. Fix it. The second is about the whole damn economic system and POWER. It’s literally classism. Apparently essential jobs and the people who do them are just worth less (worthless geddit?) because ? anyone could do those jobs? (I SERIOUSLY doubt that, and it’s some convoluted ‘market’ logic that dictates that therefore you deserve fuckin shit all gocernment investment). Because they carry less responsibility? Alright, granted IN SOME CASES. But why is that discrepancy in status and money SO BIG? Because the people on the shorter end of the stick don’t have POWER and the higher education people are sytematically MEANT to have power. No wonder ‘it makes sense’ that they get more shit.
