OH MYMFK????
This time, my whole fucking damn COMPUTER crashed just as i’d finished writing down my thoughts there is so little that makes me so absolutely incandescently furious as SHIT like this. But anger is futile so i’ll just say
It’s real fuckin sad how Youko has never had anyone be nice to her but Asuno-kun and only now she can indulge in it. Like, can you imagine? She’s NEVER had anyone be nice to her or be loyal to her. Fuck!
I’m glad that sugimoto didnt get evillised. Not completely. She KNOWS that Youko can heal in a sec so that swordhand is no bother. That was a nice release of emotion she had her own issues with being bullied. Bullying is despicable ugh. Anyway. So it seems she’s loyal to kourin and not the king and kourin is argueably being as moral as she can be so good news! And sugimoto got herself a sword and a hinman, which i would have been happy about as quishy human. Those unicorns really hate spilling blood ye. Let other people do it pls.
Also the trickster spirit went from hard truths to seriously bad advice. And youko got really burned by betrayal.
The problem i have with this new discourse about how we should value our ‘lower educated’ people and their work because without them our society would WITHER and DIE is that in the same breath or news sequence they say that our school system should allow people to climb more easily. Sure true it’s currently way too hard to stack education. BUT OR you could give these people better pay and more status like we were talking about before mr politician bullshitter/news reader. These two issues should be clearly seperated. The first this has to do with the school system. Fix it. The second is about the whole damn economic system and POWER. It’s literally classism. Apparently essential jobs and the people who do them are just worth less (worthless geddit?) because ? anyone could do those jobs? (I SERIOUSLY doubt that, and it’s some convoluted ‘market’ logic that dictates that therefore you deserve fuckin shit all gocernment investment). Because they carry less responsibility? Alright, granted IN SOME CASES. But why is that discrepancy in status and money SO BIG? Because the people on the shorter end of the stick don’t have POWER and the higher education people are sytematically MEANT to have power. No wonder ‘it makes sense’ that they get more shit.
I cant imagine weed being illegal even though it is technically illegal here. But soon! We'll have licensed producers i sure fucking hope bc the south's democratic institutions are literally being infiltrated by dutch crime gangs and families profiting from the fact that it's not legal to produce and sell weed in big enough quantities to coffeeshops (coffeeshop au's are always a little funny to me bc fhat's what we call the shops that sell weed here). But damn imagine actually having to go to a dealer on the street!!! And if the police searches you you get sent to PRISON??? for having WEED on you??? Some shitty old cannabis??? Like when I pass the belgian border suddenly i could be THROWN INTO PRISON just for having some weed with me. What. The fuck. If there's one thing im happy about that d66 managed last year its pushing through a licensed private production. Now it's waiting on the not-so-called Senate to also vote in favour. (Please please dont die there bill).
So what is historical fiction about? Insight into a specific part of the past, and a reflection on the continuity of human experience (of hardship)? And romance? I should be able to answer this because I've read so much fanfic that could be qualified as romance(?). An exploration of the build-up of a romantic relationship ? Why is that compelling? We're invested in the dance? And fiction? Seems to be a lot of thrillers... but also I think essentially that general fiction has as focus interactions between human beings and all sorts of relationships. The push and pull. As well as the complexity and problematic nature of being and of regular things just happening and how one deals with that. I haven't read enough fiction classed as just fiction to know for sure though. And non-fiction? Reflections, recordings of events and thoughts. (?) Young adult fiction.. You see a lot of combinations of genres in young adult fiction. A malicious human world (sci-fi) aqcuisition of power in a battle between good and evil (fantasy), an exploration of a first romantic relationship (romance). Urban fantasy vs. Epic fantasy Weird stuff! They both possess the novel and non-malicious (neutral) unnatural (magic) of fantasy. But urban fantasy is like a combination focus of the acquistion of power with romance (often) though I've read one where there was only romance and more like fiction (focus on being and things happening) plus the tiniest slip of magic. Genres are kind of weird and I'm not sure why they exist as they do. They must reflect common preferebces and interests right... all of these genres have different focus but they all may possess some sense of worldbuilding, characterisation, relationship dynamics, plot (things happening, characters taking action), humour, specific kinds of prose, thematic proposals and resolution.
