They were called both, but I remember in the late 90's early 2000's they were called Sock em' Boppers. Theres a couple of commercials on YouTube that use both names.

Um weeeell our Green Hill Zone set was really small, so in the background of every photo was my photographer’s loft lol. We had to extend the wall and grass in photoshop to meet the ends of the frame. It was a lot of work
