rafayel idol banner kindled spoilers

honestly, i really loved the story and the lore held in the card. ofc the whole bodyguard dynamic being switched around this time was sooo good; we rarely witness rafayel being stoic and cold to others so getting a whole card on it was so nice 🥳 i forget how scary he is if you’re Not thomas, thalia, or mc.

and ofc, the lemurian tradition of dropping shiny shells to bring back any lost lemurian back home ToT im so glad that throughout this card it kept trying back to that little tidbit until we find out at the end that rafayel was doing all this silliness to save a kidnapped lemurian baby.

we get to see his unbridled rage and help him calm down and he tells us this

which is so unbearably sweet :(( no matter what happens, he’ll always find his way back to you.

HOWEVER. i do think the idol aspect was such a waste! it didn’t really tie into the story at all, it kind of just. Happened. the backstage scene and implications were hot I won’t deny that, but the whole time I was like ⁉️ bc it just came out of the blue.

I was hoping it would be an au kinda of thing like what they did with catch 22 (THE BEST BANNER BTW), but instead we got this hot mess of an idol banner 😭😭

makes me wonder if the rumors of the creative team rlly got fired bc the writing has become… not so good so far and im disappointed in this banner and card in terms of story quality.
