I thought the IG verse reckoning with the other slaves could happen, and that it could maybe build a slow and hesitant friendship for Dev to begin to accept them, perhaps begin to bond not via sparks but begrudgingly out of need and loneliness and desire for friendship.

So what's the opposition of relationship stuff? Is there problems with that? I know Dev would fall hard for Jazz in IG but he doesn't have to be with him. He'll be fixated for awhile for sure... and not be able to see beyond anyone but Jazz (and by extension, Rico) though, I think he'd eventually get past it... it would be hard for him because he wants to believe in Jazz so badly.  And also, given all scrap he's been through during slavery, he'd want comfort. He could accept just being friends.

do you think in the Insult-Gift verse, that there could be a single survivor who knew the Polyhexian glass-forging techniques? Maybe on a distant planet, as a refugee? Perhaps they were taken in by Dev's clan? Along with the occasional other Autobot refugee and Autobot-neutrals? Some of them living on Planet Vos?

Love and grief make fools of us all.-Indeed, Optimus Prime! Yes. And Dev is definitely that... a fool. In a manner of speaking. A fool for Jazz (or he will be) ad for Rico, too. And a fool in his grief and coping no doubt.

On Axis and his slaves for his hotel:

With the excuse that “hey, if you want to stay in business in this district, you gotta supply all the amenities. At least I take good care of my ‘Cons–I’m not putting dead bodies in the recycler because I couldn’t be bothered to pay for a little medical work.”

We’re talking after the slaves are freed. Jazz would feel that he had no right to keep Dev, and that it’d be better for Dev to get away from those who put him in chains and otherwise abused him.

If Dev is for some reason not capable of managing alone–perhaps because he’s still carrying and needs to be fragged a couple times a week and is likely to pick someone who will abuse him for that–too much bad precedent–Jazz would be more likely to let him stay. Otherwise Jazz would feel like he has to “let the little guy go”, no matter what Jazz’s own feelings on the matter.

So Prowl can offer the metals and tools for Dev to make his sculptures/book-ends and such, right? I was thinking common metals like brass/bronze and steel. They could then be painted or enameled

Can Dev have his art supplies for painting and making metal sculptures soon? That way a lot off the 'off-scene' art can be worked on... while he's still with Prowler... and he can start gifting Jazz some of his creations? Some of which he'd keep too. Some might be toys for his little ones.

Better to start by offering art to Prowl. Prowl loves little sculptures and bits of architectural embellishments dug out of the ruins–he won’t say no to some additions to his collection.

Would that mean Dev and babies would move back in with Jazz, once Rico's on the scene?

They might never leave, depending on when Rico reappears.

Might be sooner than that, depending on Prowl’s tolerance for Jazz’s “foolishness”.

Oh? Prowlie likes art? I just meant Dev would want to shower Jazz in gifts, since he's so fond of him-plus it's a way to keep Jazz mindful of the little guy-if he has sculptures of things Dev made. Dev would do paintings and sculptures of all the different things he likes. Some from real life, some from his imagination.

Jazz is more of a music sort of bot, with a passing interest in tromp l’oeil painting. Prowl likes miniature paintings–hand-sized or smaller.

They could then be painted or enameled or left as is to polish or patina. I doubt gold or silver or rare metals like platinum would be much available.

Prowls-Analysis: Nope, the rarer metals aren’t on hand in large amounts. Prowl can get hold of glass and various types of crystal and fine stone (though not jewel-quality stuff) as well as what you mentioned.
