I should probably give clarification on my tags on this post, because while I did chat with the poster later and she said she regretted her words, it was pointed out to me that the poster never ended up apologizing for what she said. And so by reblogging the post with my... not helpful tags as commentary 😅, it looks like I am agreeing with the poster, which is not true.
so let me use this as a chance to spread some positivity!
I can't recommend Impossible Geometries & Biologies enough. It's a fic about Bill escaping the Theraprism and having a Bad Time on the Stan'o'war, featuring speculative biology and past Billford. I binged the first seven chapters and then couldn't stop thinking about it for...ever.
It's an excellent read. The author is extremely skillful in setting up the intrigue of a premise, building up emotions, milking every drop of angst from the characters, having small details pay off later, etc. So if you like any of that stuff, you'll enjoy this fic.
The author is incredibly sweet and gracious. When someone accused them of plagiarism several months ago, they handled the situation so much more thoughtfully and respectfully than I would have ever had the patience for. The person accusing them of plagiarism is now complaining about it again, so please give this fic and the author some love. Leave them a nice comment! Let them know you enjoyed it! Draw them some fanart if you're willing! (It genuinely surprises me that there's not more fanart for it!) They deserve every bit of love sent their way.
My original response to the plagiarism accusations of the fic in question can be found here (I felt like it was my fault at the time, because I'm the one who recommended the fic to the person whose speculative biology post it was inspired by). And I hope this goes without saying, but please do not harass the poster who's accusing the author of plagiarism.
