Cuorgnè is a small town with a wonderful historical centre boasting important buildings and splendid streets — notably 'Via Arduino' that contains the most characteristic elements of the medieval village. Along this street are Must-see monuments include 'la Torre Quadrata' (the 'Square Tower' that's also known as the 'Clock Tower') and 'la Torre Rotonda' (the 'Round Tower'). The fact that there are two dissimilar but nevertheless tall towers quite close to each other along the same street is quite rare in Italy, especially in the Canavese area. The Square Tower (which you can't see in this photo set as it was too difficult to photograph) was built after the Round Tower (see the last photo) as a sign of wealth and bitter rivalry between rich lords, which led the towers to being dubbed 'le Torri di discordia' ('the Towers of discord'). In addition to these towers, 'la Casa di re Arduino' (the so-called King of Arduino) is definitely worth seeing (swipe to photos 6 ans 7). It's a Gothic building on a three-arched portico with a wooden ceiling and terrocotta decorations. According to tradition, the monarch stayed there. Even if it isn't true, it's a striking piece of architecture. Finally, once you've reached the end of this arcade-lined, wide-arched cobbled street, head to 'l'Antico ponte sull'Orco' in 'Via Pontevecchio', an old medieval bridge that used to be the only way to cross the river, which was for merchants who travelled from Ivrea to Avigliana and the hills of the Susa Valley.
