Todi (Umbria). Church of San Giorgio. Via di Porta Fratta. Attested in documents since the eleventh century, the interior is reworked over time, presents today a Tuscan style. Among the details of the façade, an iconostasis of the years one thousand, with the symbols of the Evangelists Mark and Luke and more to the right, protected by a small roof, the anonymous fresco of the Madonna with Child and St. George. The nave has a roof covering on a round-arched cross-vault, with an overhanging wooden truss. Todi (Umbria). Tomb of Jacopone da Todi in the cripta of the Basilica of San Fortunato. Jacopo, a companion and spiritual Franciscan friar, born of a noble Tuderte family (De Benedetti) in 1230, notary, poet, chose poverty as St. Francis. During his life he knew the comforts and the married life, ceased dramatically for the death of his wife in an accident, which changed his life. Following the clash with the conventuals, who wanted to upset the Franciscan regola, he was excommunicated by Bonifax and imprisoned.
