I was actually trying to hint-nudge toward something much simpler: they're all pokemon that evolve with friendship.
But also yes!! Yes to all of this!!
Togetic are said to appear before kindhearted people (which Red is, even if MM!Red has built up a self-defensive shell) and their further evolved form, Togekiss, shows itself only where there is peace (perhaps she will evolve after peace is restored in Hyrule?)
I can never watch that Lucario movie without sobbing ;n; But yeah, I think their sense of honor / standoffish nature is really fitting for Blue, as well as their aura-sense working with his apparently good "we're being watched" sense.
And... I will be fully honest: the aspear berry thing was an accident. And I am so glad you pointed it out to me!! I actually chose them because of their sour taste, which is associated with the "toughness" stat in pokemon contests, but omg how did I not realize they cure freezing too. Don't you just love it when symbolism happens accidentally?
Leavanny, to be truthful, it probably wouldn't have occurred to me to consider except that I had already decided I wanted pokemon that evolved through friendship, and was looking for something that fit that criteria and matched Green's aesthetic. But yeah, after I looked into them more, I realized that their nurturing nature made them a pretty good fit, perhaps especially for MM!Green!
