Mantis is SUCH a pretty bird, and because Bug raised her, she's also the best of both worlds- wants to be pet by humans, easily hangs out with the other birds. Lets me put 4-leaf clovers on her head like a hat so I can take cute photos of her.

Been feeling a bit burnt out on drawing lately. Decided to see if a slight redesign might help?

While looking up reference pictures for this, I learned that the very recognizable bright orange newt is actually an adolescent stage! As babies, they're little tadpole-like guys with external gills like an axolotl; as adults they are greenish-brown and once again mostly aquatic. It's only this in-between stage (called an "eft") that is bright orange and spends much of its time on land. Neat!

I think this one might be hoping its adult transformation will lead to something a little more magical :)
